Formula 1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone says Lewis Hamilton is under bad influence – Formula 1 news
Formula 1 boss Bernie Ecclestone criticises Lewis Hamilton’s management and says that his father and former manager was a better for him.
Ecclestone said that Hamilton is going to be influenced by things and the kind of people who are not good for him and that with the kind of money he has and the age he is, he is more likely to go ahead with situations that are not good for the driver.
Hamilton signed with XIX management who are also looking after celebrities such as David Beckham and Jennifer Lopez. Ecclestone describes Hamilton’s decision to cut off with his father and sign up with XIX management as a disaster.
“I think it's a disaster,” Ecclestone said. “He gets to meet people that probably he wouldn't have met, and [who] have probably the wrong sort of influence on him. He's at the age, perhaps, and he has the amount of money, where when he's influenced, he can
carry things through, which he wouldn't normally have done.”
“I think he had some personal problems during the year which affected him quite a lot,” Ecclestone added. “A lot to do with these things, it depends an awful lot on the people you surround yourself with, and who are in a position to influence you.”
Ecclestone also seemed disappointed at the kind of celebrities who abuse their invitations to Formula 1 events and pointed out to one such incident. A YouTube video showed Ice-T a McLaren guest walking around the team cars and making lewd comments. He said
that although it is disappointing to see such incidents, but as a management body we can deal with such people but Hamilton is more likely to be influenced by such behaviour which is not good for him.
The F1 supremo gave the example of Jenson Button and said that he has been very good during the 2011 season and has conducted himself good. It is a good sign and a much better improvement over his personality since he became the World Champion in 2009.
So far, there has been no word from Hamilton over Ecclestone’s remarks.
