Formula One: 2010 season- The technical contest is over and mental has started
The Ferrari team boss Stefano Domenicali is more than glad to have Fernando Alonso in his squad. He believes that the rest of the races are now a test of the mental strength of the top five drivers. He is happy to have a driver who is blessed with great
fighting spirit and immense psychological strength.
Last week in Singapore a great show of the driving skills as well as competitive talent was presented by Alonso, as he kept the faster Red Bull behind him all through the evening. Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull did not blink his eye even once, scared to lose
any opportunity of surpassing Alonso but in vain. Alonso led the rally of Formula One cars flawlessly till he saw the chequered flag. This marked his second consecutive win and an impressive one because the last two races were hosted on two entirely opposite
tracks. Monza has long straights and allows the fastest drive of the calendar, whereas Marina Bay is a bumpy street track with very challenging corners.
Domenicali while praising his driver admitted that the team now does not plan to make a lot of developments at its cars since the season has reached its closing races, yet he added that the rest of the races are a psychological examination of the driver
as well as a test of their driving expertise. He believes that the other teams have also shut down major development work on this year’s car and are focusing on their next season’s package. The team boss further explained that if they still keep doing new
experiments on the current car they would be too late for the forth coming season.
However, he was glad to state that the determination and great performances of the Spanish driver has forced the team to go ahead with some minor upgradations to make his fight on the track easier.  The team boss proclaimed,
“We will have some little updates, nothing major, but I think that now a lot will be in the heads of the drivers and the heads of the people that have to work [in the teams] rather than an incredible improvement in performance, because we know that all
the teams are now in a period where they have to put all their resources into the new car, because otherwise they will be very late.”
He accepted the fact that the season had been a very demanding and challenging one. Ferrari underwent a lot of hard work as well as a tough time. By mid season they were almost out of the battle, however they managed to come with a blast. In Germany the
two drivers gave a one two finish to the team, though full of controversies for team ordering. Yet it was followed by another good weekend in Hungary, as Alonso finished second while his teammate bagged fourth position. In the last two races, Italian and Singapore
Grand Prix elevated the team to become one of the biggest threats for the title of the season.
Now, as only four more races are left, Ferrari hopes to keep going with the same aggression and attitude.
Alonso, who has already won two World Championships, is expected to face the pressure and stress with a lot of strength. This could become his biggest strength as the charts’ leader Mark Webber is yet to lay his hands on his first Championship and this kind
of war at the forefront is completely a new experience for him.
