Formula One - 2010's last four races: Brave enough to make a bet? (Part 1)
The 2010 season has been an amalgam of skill and technology. It hasn't been much like the usual ones where the battle begins among 24 drivers, shrinks between four or five before it reaches the mid season and from mid season till the end, two of the fastest
drivers tie up in a battle.
Or like the last season when even before the middle of the championship it was somehow decided that Jenson Button would be the title winner. This year has seen the charts taking dramatic twists and turns as every second race served with new surprises and
uncertainties. Making predictions has thus become a somewhat brave act, so don’t dare to do that unless you know all well.
With five racers standing on just a difference of twenty five points, the last four races would not only be a test of the best car on the track or the sheer driving skills but it would evaluate much more than this. It is a complete psychological and mental
test, draining the drivers to their core.
The 2010 season has evolved in such a surprising way that nothing seems a surprise now. In fact, anything is expected as the drivers now embrace their last few rounds. Whosoever, among the five apex players wins the title won't be a shock as their probabilities
lie equal.
The chart leader, Mark Webber has so far earned 202 points with four race wins. These stats clearly show his great form and also a strong will, both crucial in the current situation. In his long experience of Formula One series, he is seeing the title so
close to him for the first time. This might also be a drawback for him as he is new for this kind of pressure while at the same time, his extensive experience of the sport is an advantage over other comparatively junior drivers. A great car, good form and
reflective driving makes his chances quite high.
Next to him in the points tally stands his toughest competitor and the wildest threat, Fernando Alonso. The Spaniard is much immune to the pressure and stress that this part of the season brings. Being at the forefront a number of times and on top of it,
being a world champion twice, gives him a psychological advantage. His three wins in past five races have revealed the same driver in him who was earlier seen a few years back at his prime.
Now, the difference of eleven points from the chart's topper does not at all seem unattainable for him with the fast and furious Ferrari and a complete backing from his team. Unlike other two prominent teams of the season, Red Bull and McLaren, Ferrari has
diverted all its attention towards one man only as its other driver; Felipe Massa is already out of the contention.
However, it is believed that in case of Ferrari bagging the championship, a lot more controversies would arise pointing to their team ordering at German Grand Prix. But does that matter? The driver has already proved his potential to such a great extent
that the incident would surely be forgotten in little time and only his dramatic comeback would be remembered.
The other three drivers that follow him for third, fourth and fifth places; Lewis Hamilton, Sebastian Vettel and Jenson Button respectively, are all equally competent as well as adamant to fight till the end.
Of course, the cars, the tracks and the team strategies would play a crucial role but then at the end of the day it is the driver that does the final spell on the track. To know more about rest of the three drivers, stay tuned because you are soon to find
more reasons to keep biting nails and dropping your jaws till the last race of the season.
