Formula One - 2010's last four races: Brave enough to make a bet? (Part 2)
The third strongest contender and one of the most favorite choices of the season, Lewis Hamilton also holds equal chances to grab the title. Despite being currently faced with the darkest patch of his career, he still clings tight to the hopes of victory.
The Briton is known for his aggression on the track. Indeed, this pays well sometimes but then there are other days when the track demands patience. The driver is born impetuous- probably the biggest reason why he holds the record of being the youngest Formula
One World Champion- but some seasons simply require different traits from the others.
In the previous four races, he retired thrice giving a depressing situation to his team and fans. However, his last two poor finishes in Monza and then in Marina Bay seem to be the result of his haste which made him embrace these unfortunate retirements.
At the Italian Grand Prix, he retired in the first minute while attempting a poor overtaking move on Felipe Massa which left him on the gravel with a broken steering. At Singapore, he sent himself out of the race after colliding with Mark Webber as the two
tugged for the third place on the podium.
Now, as he moves for the next round, he needs to carefully apply the lessons learned from his last two races. If he would be hasty once again, as he instinctively is, another bad finish could clutch him as being too cautious looks just not affordable at
this part of the season. Being too careful could cost him the championship as now the one who would take the best out of every single opportunity on the track will ultimately return home happy. However, all who know Hamilton have confidence in him. He is a
born racer and a born fighter, so don’t think luck could defeat him.
The fourth place of the tally is guarded by Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull, which is a sad thing for many as the driver is thought to be capable of a better position. Just like Hamilton, Vettel is also a man born to be a racer. Speed and aggression run in
his blood and his potential many times seems unmatched. This year, his team had some high hopes from him as it was even accused of being biased with Webber to give Vettel better opportunities at Silverstone, however Vettel lived a little lesser than expected.
The Belgian Grand Prix was his worst race of the season, not only because he retired there but also due to his poor race that sent Jenson Button home without a point. Still, one may not consider Vettel any lesser threat for the championship.
The German, currently, has a total of 181 points under his belt, being 21 points shy of his teammate, a target that could be easily achieved by a driver of his potential and with a car like his RB6.
The last but by no means the least driver of the quintet is McLaren’s Jenson Button. He follows Vettel’s tail for only four points while stands at 25 points adrift the chart's leader. The Hungarian Grand Prix was an average race for him as he ended there
at 8th place but the following Belgian Grand Prix was his worst round of the season. The poor move of Vettel sent the driver to the paddock pointless. Meanwhile, the last two races saw a strong comeback from him as he bounced back with 2nd
place at the Italian and later 4th at the Singapore Grand Prix.
Now, the Briton seems adamant to fight till the end of the rope to defend his title. Be cautious while you watch him race as he is capable of pulling rabbits out of the hat as demonstrated by him earlier as well.
