The German racer Timo Glock's name was missing from the FIA's 2011 entry list. As prior media speculation suggested that the German could be looking for a seat with a more established team, but he insisted along with the team's official website quoted that
he will be racing for Virgin again the next season.
Timo Glock and the Brazilian rookie Luca di Grassi shared the team Virgin but it is yet to be confirmed for 2011 who shall be Glock's partner, later this month, hopefully before Christmas.
Also in other news, on 21 January 2011, Sauber shall unveil their Ferrari-powered C30 car, the day before the first pre-season at the Spanish circuit.
This C30 shall be raced around the circuit by Japan's Kamui Kobayashi, who in the 2010 season scored 32 of the 42 points for the team. Kamui shall be accompanied with the newcomer Sergio Perez, the Mexican racer who was the runner-up this year at GP2.
James Key, the former Force India technical director, guided the first Sauber as he joined the Swiss squad this season. "We're setting out sights high, and things are looking good so far," team Principal Peter Sauber said. "James Key has proven in the past
that he knows how to build fast cars. But all the changes to the technical regulations – including the ban on double diffusers, the introduction of Pirelli tires, adjustable rear wings and the option of using KERS – make this a particularly exciting challenge
this year."
All 12 teams are due to participate in the three-day Valencia test commencing 1 February, then in Jerez, at Barcelona and commencing the final pre-season test expected in Bahrain in early March.
