Formula One - Alonso ready to strike faster than lightening to reach the top
Fernando Alonso returns from the three week long summer break confident and high-spirited, ready to beat anyone who comes in his way for the title contention.
The season took a complete new shape for Ferrari after they were able to get a one-two finish in Germany. The team started off the season very well, as they were able to finish the first race of the season at first and second place. However the victory was followed by a row of poor finishes until their stars started shinning for them once again in Germany, followed by another good finish by the twosome in Hungary before the summer vacation started, when Fernando Alonso claimed second place while Massa was able to bag fourth.
The Spaniard now claims to return to the track with the same form that he was able to show at the last two races of the season.
"I have a good feeling following on from the positive results obtained in Germany and Hungary," Alonso told on Ferrari's official website while describing his expectations from the rest of the season.
He furthermore went on saying that the team would ‘keep the momentum’ that they were able to gain before the break started, as he was very happy with the way they started to move just before the holidays.
"The Hockenheim and Budapest results were important not just in terms of the classification in both championships, but also for the confidence it has given us. We have to keep pushing on this way," the Spaniard told the press as he was preparing to set-off for the next round of the season scheduled to be held this weekend.
Well, the way Alonso expresses his feelings for the next two races, one to be held at Spa and the other at Monza seems a real threat to the other competitive teams, the Red Bull and McLaren owing not only to his unmoved determination but majorly to the fact that the next two tracks are technically supposed to suit the Ferrari car immensely. On the other hand there are speculations that the Red Bull might not be able to do brilliantly on these tracks and McLaren so far has a car that does not match Red Bull and Ferrari when it comes to pace. This leaves Ferrari as the most threatening team for the next two rounds.
"I am happy that the return to racing means going to two particularly special venues, which host the Belgian and Italian Grand Prix," exclaimed the two-time world champion.
Moreover, he told that the Belgian track is one of his most favourite tracks and it had always appealed him extensively, while Monza is another great track, he told as he had always found it very special.
This race would be the driver’s debut in front of the Italian crowd as a Ferrari driver, in addition to the historical value that the circuit has.
Currently the Ferrari driver stands at fifth place in the Drivers’ Championship having bagged a total of one hundred and forty one points while the leader of the charts, Mark Webber had bagged one hundred and sixty one points so far.
The other Ferrari driver, Massa has ninety-seven points under his belt after he gave his race win of Germany to his teammate, for which the team had already been fined a 100,000 dollars.
Moreover, the World Motor Sport Council will announce their verdict on eighth of September for the same issue. As FIA’s regulations forbid any such strategy or policy that might alter the race results.
Currently the team stands at third place in the Constructors’ Championship one place behind McLaren while Red Bull leads the charts. However, the team expects to raise their place in the tally with the next couple of races.
