Formula One: Battle of cars and technology
The cars are ready to move to the next destination of the season. The eleventh race of the year is scheduled to run this Sunday at Hockenheim, Germany amidst all the fervour and jubilation as the Formula One caravan moves to the place or the first time in two years. The cars, the drivers and the teams, as all step in the second half of the 2010 season shows the battle has become more fierce and vicious. There is no laying back now as the competition has gone really head to head with the four leading drivers of the season, Lewis Hamilton, Jenson Button, Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel are only separated by four points, two victories bagged by three of them whereas Webber had been able to grab three victories of the season so far. Similarly, the battle between the teams is also turning severe with every passing race. The top two teams Red Bull and McLaren stand separated with only twenty nine points.
Now as the situation is becoming heated up with every passing round the teams are struggling even more brutally to beat their rivals, at the same time the factories of all the teams are immensely busy in order to improve the technology in their cars.
One of the leading teams in this aspect is the Red Bull, the team that is already proclaimed to have the fastest car of the season. For the German Grand Prix the team has further announced improvement in their car, using improved version of aerodynamic system.
Things are settling within the Red Bull team as well although they have had a row of disputes and controversies since the Turkish Grand Prix as the two Red Bull drivers crashed into each other followed by the major clash earlier this month in Silverstone. However, before they head towards the next race they have announced that the air has been completely cleaned.
The other teams that have claimed to use similar system for the race are McLaren and Ferrari, currently standing at first and third place respectively in the Constructors’ standings. The McLaren had already used their blown diffuser at Silverstone but due to some minor technical problems it was not used at the final race day. This time they have claim to have it revised to avoid any inconvenience in the upcoming race.
Before the team left for Germany, the McLaren team principal, Martin Witmarsh said that he is proud of the fact that they have not been left behind in the battle of technology and that their car is reliable and quick enough to beat any car in the race. He further added that the team is determined to keep the car improving even further for the rest of the races of the season as they really wanted to win both the Championships.
The Ferrari driver, Fernando Alonso mentioned that the team had been able to make a real good car for the season and the up gradations done in the car for the past two races had been brilliant. The blown diffuser worked very well and though they were not able to do very good in Valencia or Silverstone on the final race days but the car performed very well. He added that during the practice sessions the cars proved really great on both the tracks with great speed and accurate down force.
The Mercedes GP boss Ross Brawn while talking about their car said that he is quite hopeful with their own version of F- Duct and he thinks that the car would be able to do really good at the race.
Well, as the teams move for the next round of the season, the battle of technology and advancement will unfold at the Hockenheim circuit this weekend.
