It is the famous German racer who is once again in the stories. It has been years and years that the popularity of this Formula One driver has not decreased. The seven times Formula One Champion had been the centre of attention of the entire media over all this time. All through his career he had been able to magnetise the admiration and praise of the media people but now he is under severe criticism from.
This time the Schumacher story that makes the headline of all the newspapers as well as websites is that he might be losing his seat at Mercedes for the upcoming year. There had been news all around, that his team is not very happy with his recent performances and that they would want to replace him with Robert Kubica for the 2011 season.
All such stories have been completely denied not only by his team, but also by all the well reputed sources in Germany, the homeland of the racer: laughed out all such gossips, telling that this all is baseless, malicious stories, created by the rivals to ignite chaos among the Mercedes as well as Schumacher fans.
However, at the same time it could not be over looked that just a few hours after the team scoffed all these stories, a sports specialist website of Italy reported that Mercedes chiefs have had a meeting with Kubica, who is now driving for Renault.
After the dissemination of the news a spokesman for Mercedes told the Guardian that nothing as such had been talked about with Kubica ever nor the team is considering replacing Schumacher in anyway.
Even his team-mate Nico Rosberg said that he has never heard or felt that the team has any such plans. Also, he mentioned that they both together have had some very strong races earlier this year. He added that there had been times when he himself actually performed better but still in general he said that he still looks at Schumacher as a strong racer.
Michael Schumacher had been criticised immensely after their race earlier this month in Canada. He finished at the eleventh place and it had been said by the analysts and commentators that this race was the worst he has had this entire season.
Michael has returned to the race after a gap of three years. In the year 2007 he announced his retirement from the race world. A lot of hype was created at his return earlier this year but his performance lagging. The few early races were considered to be only a warm up for him after being away from the competitive and stressful track however after having run eight races of the season better results are expected from him now.
At the present Schumacher stands at the ninth place in the Drivers’ Championship with only thirty four points so far, whereas his team stands at the fourth place of the Constructor’s Championship.
How safe is his place in the team and if the team managers are thinking of replacing him with Kubica or anyone else, depends upon his performance in the few upcoming races. However, all his fans as well as the race fans around the world wait to see him perform magically on the track as he has done in the his past years.
