Formula One: Cruising through 2010 season (Part 4)
Hungarian Grand Prix- Hamilton loses his top slot
As the 2010 season kept maturing, more heat and excitement was witnessed on the tracks of Formula One. The Hungarian Grand Prix stands as another unforgettable weekend this year.
This marked the last race before the teams went for the summer break of the season. Mark Webber of Red Bull was quick enough to bag the fourth victory of the season, which also escalated him to the top position in the 2010 Drivers’ standing. Thus, offering
a very cool and calm three week’s break while on the other hand Lewis Hamilton of McLaren lost his appetite for a long period as he lost his dominance on the charts.
Red Bull’s pace was unmatched as one driver topped the podium while the other, Sebastian Vettel, settled himself at third place.
The very controversial victory of Alonso in Germany was followed by his second place finish here in Hungaroring, and his teammate Felipe Massa ended at fourth position.
The weekend was a poor one for the two McLarens as Jenson Button ended his day at 8th slot while Hamilton walked out pointless from the race after retiring at the 24th lap owing to transmission problem. This descended him down to second
place in the Drivers’ Charts.
By now the hopes and expectations from the seven times world champion Michael Schumacher completely disappeared and many of the race analysts and gurus started calling his decision to return at the track a big mistake. It is true that Mercedes failed to
provide him with a great car but still this is also a fact that he was unable to extract the most out of what he had.
The Hungarian Grand Prix saw the 41-year old finish his day at 11th place while his teammate Nico Rosberg retired this time.
Also, the chances of Renault and its driver, Robert Kubica faded away from both the titles, Drivers’ and Constructors’ as the car lost pace and the driver kept losing points.
Moreover, the team ordering controversy of Ferrari shoved Felipe Massa out of the contention for the title, thus the battle now is confined between the top five drivers of the points’ tally.
Belgian Grand Prix- Three drivers walk out pointless:
Another very unpredictable race! A big twist was seen in the charts, as three out of the top five drivers walked pointless out of the race.
The last race in Hungary tied five top drivers in a strong contention however after this race it seemed that the season has finally shaped like the usual ‘two men’s battle.’
The eager and anxious McLaren driver, Hamilton returned from the three weeks’ break all determined and adamant to take back his lead in the Drivers’ Championship. Of course, there was no stopping to the furious driver. He raced past all his rivals to see
the chequered flag and hence got back to the top just after a single race.
Webber, who kept chasing his tail all through the track, ended a place behind him. And the shock of the day was the pointless finish of all the other three prominent drivers of the season.
Alonso retired owing to an accident while Button was the most unlucky man of the day whose race ended after a poor move of Vettel, which sent the English driver back to paddock from his fifteenth lap.
On the other hand, Vettel packed his race at fifteenth place after a number of poor racing moves all through his race.
As the cars left Spa-Francorchamps it seemed that the fight has now shrunk between Hamilton and Webber, who were evidently the strongest on the track.
However, only one more race unfolded and everyone’s predictions went wrong.
To know more stay tuned as the last two and most brutal races are yet to be unwrapped for you.
