Formula One: FIA Cleared Ferrari’s Front Wing For Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium Grand Prix
After all the controversies and suspicions, Ferrari is using the same front wing for the Belgian Grand Prix as well.
Many of the teams reported earlier that the design and flexibility of the front wing that the Ferrari had used in the last few races breaches the regulations of FIA regarding the front wing however, the team convinced to keep using it for the next races as well, insisting that it does not break any rule.
Now, their front wing design has been tested by FIA at Spa-Francorchamps this Friday, declaring that the team may keep on using it as it is completely legal.
In the past two races at Germany and Hungary, the Red Bull was also accused of having an illegal design of the front wing as well, as several other objections were put by many of the other teams on their RB6. However, FIA had also cleared their car after introducing a series of more stringent flexibility tests before the Belgian GP started.
During the tests, the McLaren’s wings were also tested thoroughly which were also cleared out.
However, one of the speculations that still are being held is that the front wing of Ferrari's F-10 has too much bending towards the ground in the past couple of Grand Prix’s.
However, as the Friday’s practice session ended, reporters from the Italian press asked him if the wings had been cleared by FIA now or are the same being used with some modifications been made in them, for which he replied, "On our part we have not changed anything, we have the same parts (wings) as in Hungary."
When FIA was asked about the same issue, they replied that it is understood that most test are scheduled to take place before the teams head for the final race day. It added that a series of more strict teats would be carried at some part of the day on Saturday or Sunday.
Well, now only qualifying is left before the final race of the weekend starts. As per the initial two races, Fernando Alonso proved to be the quickest on the track on the wheel of F10, whereas red Bull’s Mark Webber made his mark in the final practice today morning.
As the two practices on Monday ended, Alonso was happy to declare, "It was definitely a positive day because the car seemed to respond well in all track conditions we encountered."
