Formula One: FIA warned all the teams once again to strictly refrain from Team Orders
Christian Horner, the team principal of Red Bull was quick to announce after the Belgian Grand Prix that no team orders would be followed in Red Bull.
The thirteenth race of the season, held this Sunday at Spa saw two of the racers, Lewis Hamilton of McLaren and Mark Webber of Red Bull to be the strongest contenders of the 2010 Championship title. With this race win, Hamilton has been able to mark his third victory of the season, while Webber has already had four victories during the season so far.
Now, there are strong chances that the final tug for the title would be between these two stars, therefore, FIA had been quick to forbid any kind of "team orders".
Team orders or any kind of team strategies made by its members that could alter the race results are strictly forbidden by FIA as per the sporting regulations.
McLaren had responded to FIA’s statement quickly as the topper of the charts, Hamilton declared that he believes in equality from the team and insisted that he will not get "any preferential treatment" over his teammate, Jenson Button.
"I think it's too early, but maybe there's a different strategy compared to McLaren," Webber commented as the team order issue was discussed with him by the press.
However, as the Red Bull team boss, Christian Horner was asked if Vettel is going to serve as a facilitator to Webber, he replied firmly, "That would be team orders. And those are not allowed!"
Vettel told a leading German automobile magazine, Auto Motor und Sport, "There are still some races to go and we have seen how quickly things change.”
The next track of Monza is not expected to suit the RB6 very well; therefore, one may see some big changes in the charts. Hence, Red Bull does not believe that Vettel is completely out of the battle for the title.
Moreover, Vettel could also be benefited by the team orders plethora, as the verdict for Ferrari is yet to be declared by the World Motor Sport Council regarding their practice of team order at the German Grand Prix.
Vettel finished his race at Germany behind the two Ferrari drivers, so if the Ferrari’s positions are altered by the authorities of WMSC, things might turn positive for Red Bull.
WMSC is to announce its verdict on September 8th.
