Formula One: Ferrari Vows to Start Anew After the Summer Break
The 2010 season had been exciting and thrilling right from the start, showcasing a lot of action and drama on the track in addition to a lot of off-track conflicts and controversies. As the twelfth race of the season ends and the drivers and cars settle down for a nice summer break, the fans are biting nails in anticipation of what lays at the other end of the break.
With the results of the past few races, the tally of the points has become more nerve tingling than ever before. The battle that was being fought between the four front men has added another gladiator now. Well, seven more races to go before we could see who would be the last man standing.
Well, looking at the electrifying situation of the current points tally, one is thrilled to find the difference of only twenty points among the top five contenders of the season which makes the situation more interesting and fascinating.
The top place of the Drivers’ Standings had been conquered by Mark Webber of Red Bull once again after leaving it for Lewis Hamilton of McLaren for a long time, who has now settled for second place. The third place is occupied by the other Red Bull man, Sebastian Vettel followed by Jenson Button of McLaren. The fifth place has been occupied by Fernando Alonso of Ferrari, who was able to win the last Grand Prix as well. His second place finish on the podium for the season has brought him back to the fight for the title this season. He bags a total of one hundred and forty one points so far, while the charts’ leader, Webber has one hundred and sixty one points under his belt making a lead of twenty points, while the rest of the three drivers stand in between.
As Alonso returns from the Hungarian Grand Prix last Sunday, after finishing his race at second place, his teammate Felipe Massa ended the race for forth position, the leading Ferrari driver warned the other top four rivals saying that they will "all start from zero" as the teams return from the three-week summer break.
Well! Alonso knows that Ferrari needs "to be the best" for the rest of the season, in order to walk away with the title at the end of the season.
"I think we have to be happy with our Championship so far," the Spaniard proclaimed during an interview on the official website of the team.
The season had been an amalgam of some good races, as well as some disappointing races, however, their position seems satisfactory now and also their current pace seems very satisfying.
"There are seven races to go now, so anything can happen. We all start from zero so we need to be the best in this last part of the Championship if we want to win,” added the enthusiastic man.
He elaborated that after having the break of the season; he thinks that all the teams would be having a new start all together.
He furthermore went on to say that with the current situation, no one could exactly call himself to be the leader of the Championship and similarly no one feels fifth in the Championship. Rather, all the top place men feel to be a group of the top contenders of the season.
The Spaniard also proclaimed that he is quite confident about Ferrari's strategy as well as the car’s ability for the remainder of the season.
The race lovers hope to see a head to head combat in the upcoming races between the Red Bull and Ferrari, as the two cars are the fastest of the season and of course, McLaren is also not going to give up very easily despite being the third fastest car.
