Formula One: Hamilton Hopeful Yet Concerned About His Mp4-25
McLaren enters yet another race of the season with keeping the positions maintained at the top of the Drivers’ as well as the Constructors’ Championship of the season so far. The team had been able to do good right from the start of the season, both their drives; Lewis Hamilton and Jensen Button have showed great form and confidence on the track throughout the year.
As the Formula One caravan moves towards the twelfth rendezvous of the season, McLaren claims to be motivated and ready to beat all the teams. Both its drivers are once again looking forward to having a great weekend and hope to have it wrapped with a glorious one –two finish for the team. Currently the Drivers’ Standings are topped by Hamilton, who had been able to secure the place for a couple of months now. He has a collocation of one hundred and fifty seven points under his belt so far. The second place of the charts has been grabbed by Button who stands at the second place with a total of one hundred and forty three points so far.
As the team enters Hungary for the upcoming race, the Britain driver, Lewis Hamilton talked to the Formula One official website explaining that though he is confident and motivated for the next race, yet the fact remains there that they do not have one of the fastest cars of the season.
The championship leader, in a pre-race press conference told the reporters that McLaren’s MP4-25 has improved immensely from what they had at the start of the season, yet he believes that the car only stands to be the third-fastest car of the year, while the Red Bull and the Ferrari leads them in pace.
"I’ve said since Valencia, since they had their upgrade, that Ferrari is faster than us," he further added. "Even though it didn't show in that race weekend and it didn't show in Silverstone, they have been faster than us for a while.”
In the last week’s race, both the Ferrari cars ended at first and second place, while one of the Red Bull’s ended at third, followed by both the McLaren cars. Whereas at Silverstone, Mark Webber from Red Bull bagged the victory, the second and forth places were secured by the both the McLarens, however Ferrari was far from the top places.
Despite the great finishes Hamilton announced that both the drivers are pulling really hard to get the best out of their cars as he said, "We have been the third-fastest team for some time now, and we still are. We have to work our backsides off to catch them and keep getting our upgrade parts.”
Though the team have made several up gradations in the past few races and they have successfully used the blown diffuser in the last race at Germany, still he thinks that they are technically far behind the other  two teams.
He wrapped the discussion by saying that though this was a big concern for the team, yet they were happy as they had been able to lead the championship with what they have and the team hopes to keep getting more great results in the latter half of the season.
Currently everyone knows that under the new scoring system, one can very quickly sweep away a seemingly healthy point’s tally, just like what McLaren did with the Red Bulls and Ferrari following the Monaco Grand Prix.
At the present, McLaren has a lead of fourteen points over Red Bull, but it’s like 2.5 or three points under the old system, so McLaren has to keep pushing hard and stay focused on developments to retain their lead.
