Formula One: Hamilton reveals promising developments at McLaren after summer break, as they return in Spa, Bahrain with full competitive force
It was a great disappointment for the Formula One fans to witness the most celebrated racers of the season being retired from the race for the second time in the season. The McLaren driver who had been ruling at the top of the Drivers’ Championship for a couple of months had to end his race, owing to mechanical problems in his car at the Hungarian Grand Prix last week.
Due to the pointless departure from Budapest, Hamilton had to hand over the top place to Mark Webber of Red Bull, from whom he snatched it earlier this year at the Canadian Grand Prix.
As the Formula One caravan sets to rest for a period of three weeks for the summer break, Lewis Hamilton talks to the official website disclosing his experience of the last race, as well as unfolding his plans for the rest of the season.
He started off with the note that he believes in putting all bad things behind and keep moving on, as one must never think too hard about the 'what ifs' as missed opportunities, as time does not return ever.
He added that despite being a difficult race, it brought some positives also as every experience teaches something or the other and he knows that the team is capable of coming back even stronger in the last seven races of the season.
He said that there are some very promising developments in the pipeline, as the team is trying to make progress in lots of areas. He proclaimed that McLaren had, “dug deep before” and he is absolutely positive that they would be able to dig deep once more.
At the moment, the championship is very closely balanced, as the top five drivers of the tally separate from each other with only twenty points. As the teams had gone for a long break, one expects to see the season resumed in just as much excitement as was witnessed at the start of the year.
While talking about the summer break, Hamilton said that it was really necessary for everyone in the sport, as the season goes very hard for them. From the mechanics to the engineers and especially for the men and women that are working around the clock at the factory.
He further elaborated that the break is really a proper shutdown, when everybody gets the opportunity to forget everything about Formula One for a while and spend time away with their friends and families, which he thinks is very essential.
When he was asked about his plans for the holiday, he exclaimed jokingly, “As for me, I'm looking at getting away from it all for a little while. Where am I going? I don't think I'm going to say! Ha ha!"
At the conclusion of the interview session, he was asked about his opinion of the team’s performance so far and its future plans, as they would return from the three week long break. He said that so far he sees the season to be a very good one for the entire team. He seemed extremely pleased with the team for proving with the car that had enabled him, as well as his teammate Jenson Button to win a couple races but still he thought that they were a little less competitive than some of the other teams.
He finished with the note that he was pleased so far with what they had been able to achieve, yet he thought that they had just laid the foundation for the championship battle and the latter part of the season would actually decide the title.
Vodafone McLaren Mercedes had been at the top in the past seasons as well, they know how to win, and their fans desperately wish to see them return from the break in Spa, Bahrain in full competitive force.
