Formula One - Korean Grand Prix: Third Practice Session; Robert Kubica records fastest lap
The third practice session of the Korean Grand Prix took place this Monday amidst a lot of thrill and action. Renault driver Robert Kubica was able to set the fastest lap, demonstrating a great form and pace on the track.
The track surface has been much better than it was only a day back, as the first and second practices saw a lot of dust and stones which made driving very tough for the racers. The construction work has finished only two weeks
back on the Korean International Circuit, which is why it is very slippery and at certain places driving is very tough and risky.
Renault has been surprisingly fast and efficient on the track and its driver, Kubica, ended all the three practices in pretty good pace. This time again, the Polish racer took only 1m 37.354s to mark the fastest of the lap of the
day. McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton was the second fastest man of the morning, being only 0.048s behind the topper. Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso followed him for third place in 1m 37.426s.
The fourth slot of the practice was taken by Mark Webber being 0.087s adrift of Kubica. Though he currently tops the charts, he is adamant to get victory in this race to keep his lead safe in the Drivers’ Championship.
Mercedes GP driver Nico Rosberg was fast once again as seen in the first two practices also. This time he made his fastest lap in 1:37.629s.
Felipe Massa stood behind the top five drivers of the day making his best in 1m 37.955s, a place ahead of the second McLaren driver Jenson Button. The British driver was hardly able to hold on to the 7th place.
Among the top five contenders of the title for the season, Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull had the poorest third practice session as he was hardly able to make up to 16th place, a very disappointing result for Vettel. Currently,
he stands at third place and has a very tough competition with his teammate, who leads the charts with 220 points while Alonso stands at second place with 206 points, equal to Vettel.
The middle slots of the third practice were occupied by Nico Hulkenberg of Williams, who ended at 8th place, Michael Schumacher of Mercedes at 9th place and Adrian Sutil parked his Force India at 10th.
The drivers of HRT, Virgin and Lotus ended their day at the last places of the tally.
