Formula One: Lewis Hamilton qualifies in third place in practice session for Japanese GP
Bigger news than the dominance of the Red Bulls was the fact that the McLaren of Lewis Hamilton, who barely participated in the first practice session on Friday, missed the second session, and again, barely participated in the Saturday final practice session
qualified in 3rd place. The question of the day, how did he do it?
With no testing on his new wings and no practice on the track with two new turns, the British driver outstandingly pulled it off. Due to the dry conditions, it was quite clear that he will not be able to finish ahead of them but it was quite a shocker that
he finished right behind them.
It was quite clear from the practice sessions that the Ferrari’s were not looking so good and they are the least favourite team on the track. It was down to the McLarens and the Red Bulls to do the top job in Japan. Lewis Hamilton lost his lead 4 races ago
as he retired in 3 out of the past 4 races.
Lewis Hamilton was currently not looking so good in the run for the championship however, he has recovered massively and it seems that if he is able to finish the race, he will be in a decent place as Lewis is known for finishing in a good position if he
is performs well in the qualifying.
Lewis is currently in 3rd place just 21 points behind the leader Mark Webber in his Renault. Fernando took the 2nd spot from him in the last race at Singapore when he was not able to finish the race due to a collision with Mark Webber.
Lewis Hamilton will have to think twice before making such a move in Japan as he is aware that the team will not be too happy about it this time and they will not back him up as he has already made enough mistakes for 5 races.
His crash at Suzuka vitally affected his run for the Japanese grand prix but his recovery at the qualifying session, was a spectacle of driving and a proof of why Lewis Hamilton is known as the fastest driver on track.
