Formula One: Lewis Hamilton returns jubilant after a trouble free Korean GP
The struggling and ambitious driver is at last happy! The last round of the season, the Korean Grand Prix brought a sigh of relief for the McLaren driver, Lewis Hamilton who has been facing immense hard luck since past couple of months. The British driver
after a long period got lucky to end his race at second place on the podium.
The 17th round of the 2010 season unfolded amidst great thrill and anticipation at the newly built Korean International circuit last Sunday. The slippery track, the strange new turns and corners and above all the pouring sky added to the intensity
and drama of this episode. The track got the final approval for the race only two weeks ahead of the scheduled date, a very rare incident in Formula One for as per the FIA rules the final inspection must be conducted at least 60 days ahead of the race day.
However, the race that took place after so much doubts and uncertainty for its existence came out to be one of the most thrilling and nerve-tickling rounds of the season. One cannot say how well the viewers on the track did enjoy seeing the race but one
thing is certain, the TV separators around the world could not help biting their nails and dropping their jaws lap after lap. The spins and slips of the drivers on the newly laid layer of asphalt kept the audience jumping on their seats, as they saw the Formula
One caravan cover yet another entertaining episode of the calendar.
Among many happy and sad men, Lewis Hamilton shone like a jewel as the reporters talked to him after the race, calling it to be a lucky day for him. The chocolate skinned man had a pretty good weekend. All the practice sessions went well for him, the car
reacted well and he was glad to tell that it suited the track perfectly. Moreover, the qualifying was also not too bad as he started the race from the 4th place on the grid. Though he was a little concerned for having started the race form the dirtier
side of the track, yet he was adamant to finish at the podium and the ever aggressive racer was able to do what he wanted.
The 26 year old has seen a couple of distressed and disappointing months earlier this season as hard luck kept bouncing back to him time and again. Among the last six races of the season, he had to finish three pointless. The Hungarian Grand Prix, earlier
this year saw him coming back home pointless in the mid season. Later at the Italian Grand Prix, he wrapped his race only at the first lap as he made a poor over taking move in Monza, while in Singapore he crashed with Mark Webber of Red Bull and had his race
packed up.
Moreover, the last round in Japan brought another series of mishaps for him, as he had his car damaged at the first practice and missed most of the second practice for being in the garage with a broken car and busy mechanics. The third practice got cancelled
due to rain and finally at the race day he needed a new gear box due to problems with his original. The change of gear box not only brought him a penalty but also another troubling set of gears gave him a real tough challenge during the race.
However, a trouble free race after a long time has brought the racer back to third place from his earlier fourth. Now with two more races to go and 210 points under his belt, the driver reckons that the second championship of his career is not too far off.
