Formula One: Mark Webber answers “favouritism” with Silverstone victory
The fast and the furious Formula 1 Silverstone Grand Prix saw Australian, Formula 1 driver Mark Webber finish first. With his victory, Webber has achieved a unique place no other Australian has reached. This year’s Formula 1 British Grand Prix event has ended up with cheers and delights for the Aussie champ racer.
Sunday was a lucky day for the Red Bull team and its dominant Aussie racer Mark Webber. As Red Bull’s Mark Webber made his way towards the Championship title of the British Grand Prix. He is the first Australian to achieve a formula one race victory in Britain. He snatched the first position from Great Britain’s Lewis Hamilton of the McLaren team. Mark took the lead of the race from the beginning after a very good start and made slick and sharp moves to make his way towards the victorious end. His good luck and strong commitment in the race gave him a lead over the best racer Lewis Hamilton.
After winning the British Grand Prix, Webber told the world that it was a dream come true for him but it was not an impossible task for him. He looked confident and happy with the way he finished the race. He struggled and won it for his career and the Red Bull team. He said, he was keen and focused towards the target. He loved the way his car remained in his control throughout the race and everything went well for him. Webber appreciated his opponent’s efforts and expressed his admiration for Hamilton’s dedicated efforts in the race. The Australian racer added that he enjoyed competing against Hamilton and admired the World Number One.
World Champion Lewis Hamilton seemed happy over the results. He appreciated the efforts of Mark Webber and considered him one of the best drivers in the Formula 1 racing world. He admired Webber’s focus. Hamilton looked very calm and happy.
Controversies and gossip have always been there in the racing world of F1. Some controversies and issues also took place during the British GP. One issue was, team Red Bull declaring Sebastian Vettel as their favourite for the race. Red Bull has strongly denied their favouritism for Vettel over Webber. Webber, while talking about his victory, pronounced his victory as an answer to the favouritism of Vettel over him.
The British GP has finished with a bang for Mr. Webber. The top five racers of this event were Mark Webber of Australia at the top with the time of 1 hour, 24 minutes and 38 seconds. Webber was followed by World Champion Lewis Hamilton of Great Britain with the time of 1 hour, 24 minutes and 38 seconds. N. Rosenburg of Germany took the 3rd place with 1 hour, 24 minutes and 59 seconds. At fourth place J. Button of Great Britain is standing with the time of 1 hour 25 minutes. The fifth spot was taken by R Barrichello with the time of 1 hour, 25 minutes and 09 seconds.
After the event Red Bull’s Webber is at the 3rd spot in the world rankings with 128 points. The top spot is still held by World Champion Lewis Hamilton of McLaren with 148 points. The former World Number One star, Fernando Alonso is standing at the 5th place in the world ranking with 98 points.
