Formula One: Mark Webber enjoying the fight back for the 2010 drivers’ title
Red Bull driver, Mark Webber stated that he is relishing the prospect of chasing down the new championship leader Fernando Alonso for the drivers’ championship at the final two races of the season.
Before the Korean Grand Prix, Webber was leading the drivers’ standings by 14 points but after spinning off the track on lap 19 of the Korean Grand Prix, he is now 11 points adrift of the Ferrari driver. However, he is optimistic that his team Red Bull, that has 14 pole positions to its credit this season along with seven wins can still deliver a good performance in the final two races.
“It was a pretty extraordinary race and its closed things up at the top of the world championship. But I absolutely believe that I can win the title. The RB6 is a great car and I'm going to relish these last two races in Brazil and Abu Dhabi,” Webber told his official website.
Mark Webber believes that this season is becoming a spectacle of entertainment in the racing world and that this season has been a bit too unpredictable, and that is a good thing in every way. With just 2 races left, Webber believes that since his car has been the most consistent team this season, his team will not have any problems setting up the best possible car for each of the final two races.
“To be racing against guys of Fernando's calibre is very rewarding and beating them is what sport at this level is all about,” he added.
His teammate Sebastian Vettel on the other hand, is also keen to bounce back as he retired at the Korean Grand Prix due to an engine failure. However, Sebastian Vettel took the most pole positions this season and since he took the pole position at the last two venues and leading majority of both races, he claims that he will not change the way he is driving this year.
“Nothing is going to change in my approach to the final two rounds. My [engine] failure makes everything more interesting and difficult. But it is still possible. I am going to fight until the end,” Vettel said.
Red Bull will be more determined than ever as they take their championship run to the Brazilian grand prix that is expected to take place starting from November 7.
