Formula One: Massa- Ferrari Is Ready To Beat Red Bull
Since the start of the year, Red Bull had been considered to have the fastest car of the season. Time and again, they have proved their dominance on the track while showing that they were unbeatable. The Austrian team had been the first one to place the blown diffuser in their cars, while the other teams did not even think about it. Though almost all the other teams tried to follow their footsteps in order to have their pace improved, yet no one was able to cross them.
Now as the Formula One caravan has covered twelve races of the season and most of the teams have brought major developments in their cars, Ferrari’s Felipe Massa claims that they are in the same league as that of Red Bull. After the race held last weekend at Hungaroring, Ferrari had been the only team to keep in a pace equal to Red Bull.
Red Bull’s Austrian team member, Sebastian Vettel settled for pole position in Budapest making a lead of 1.2 second, whereas his team mate Mark Webber, was able to bag victory on the final race day having finished 17.8s ahead of the other Ferrari driver, Fernando Alonso.
Well, Ferrari had also been quite quick in the last few races, especially at the German Grand Prix earlier last month, Alonso and Massa dominated the race with a one-two finish for the team at Hockenheim. However, only after a difference of a week, Red Bull returned to their form.
After going through most part of the race, Massa believes that they are now as fast as Red Bull and the latter’s better performance was because of the characteristics of the tracks in the past few races, as it suited their car immensely.
In Germany, Ferrari were clearly able to demonstrate that they had the fastest car but it took only a few days and Red Bull were able to claim victory once again in Hungary, that they had been the fastest around. In an attempt to explain the reason Massa through the official website of Ferrari said, “They have nearly always been fastest, apart maybe from Bahrain and then Hockenheim. It is mainly related to the nature of the track. In Germany we qualified in much the same time and then we were quicker in the race, but in Hungary they were 1.2 seconds faster, which suggests to me that in Hockenheim they underperformed.”
Now, as Massa heads for his home town, Spain in order to spend the summer break with his family, he says that he is very happy and satisfied with the pace of his F10, as well as with his fourth-place finish in Hungary, despite acknowledging the fact that Red Bull dominates the charts.
“It is good to be home after what was one of the busiest months I can remember in my time in Formula One.” He said on his official website.
He further stated, “And thankfully, it ended with a couple of good results that suggest Ferrari is returning to the form that we expect.”
As the teams at the present head for a long break, that spreads up to three weekends without racing, the entire Ferrari crew seems happy and contented with the momentum that they had been able to pick up in the last couple of rounds on the calendar.
Massa concluded saying that he was happy to have this pause after having worked so hard. He added that it was very important for the drivers to spare some time for rest after the busy schedule they go through.
He said that he would be spending time at home with his family and especially with his son, who had been waiting for him anxiously.
Massa would return to the track for the Belgian Grand Prix at Spa on 27th of August.
