Formula One: McLaren And Red Bull, The Saga Of Love And Envy
The McLarens are the new love birds of the town and everybody loves the fact. The two McLaren drivers Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton were shown in a newspaper before the race day framed in a giant heart frame. Well the two had been able to keep their friendship going on and seemed very happy about it.
On the other hand the rift between the two Red Bull men is becoming more and more evident with every passing day. Not only the two drivers are seen indulged in severe rivalry but also the team seems biased and nurturing the envy even further instead of putting it off.
McLaren’s driver, Hamilton explained regarding the team environment that it is the best team when it comes to mutual understanding and inter-team relation. He added that between the two drivers an air of friendship and consideration exists. He further mentioned that they both are always ready and willing to share the techniques and experiences that could prove helpful for them. He concluded that we have not built any strong walls in our garage and that makes us share a lot together.
On the other hand the 30 year old, Briton driver Button added that he thinks no matter what the media or other teams keep saying about them they have always tried to keep going on smoothly. He added that as teammates they had always been helpful and supportive towards each other. He was happy to conclude that it is not only the two of them who had always been helpful to each other but also the entire crew of McLaren works hard and closely with each other, which is the reason why the team had been able to reach the top of the charts.
This year the two teams that had really been the toughest competitors so far are the Red Bull and McLaren. The Red Bull were able to lead the Constructors’ as well as Drivers’ Championship initially this year but since the last couple of races the McLaren had been able to get the reins of both the titles under their control. The rivalry of the Red Bull drives as well as their decline came to the forefront at the Turkish Grand Prix where Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel crashed into each other following which the two race leaders had to give up their top positions to the McLaren drivers. Vettel retired from the race whereas Webber finished at third place. Later the enmity came out off and on and finally last weekend at the British Grand Prix the team openly showed that they considered Vettel to be the leading driver of the team whereas Webber is the second place driver. During the practice sessions Vettel damaged the wing of his chassis which was replaced by the new wings of Webbers’ car while Webber was given older wings. After the race win Webber commented that, "Not bad for a number two driver".
At the moment the team stands at second place on the Constructors’ Championship behind McLaren with being short of twenty nine points. Whereas, the Red Bull drivers, Webber and Vettel stand at second and third places with one hundred and twenty eight and one hundred and twenty one points respectively.
On the other hand McLaren had been able to keep clung to the Constructors’ Championship for the past two months with their drivers currently occupying first sand second places with one hundred and forty five points bagged by Lewis and one hundred and thirty three by Button.
The Red Bull team boss, Christian Horner on reading the love stories of the two McLaren drivers in newspaper commented that it is surly not going to last very long whereas the McLaren thinks that it is the mutual understanding of the team that had been able to take them so far. Only time will tell who is going to make up and who is going to break apart, so far the McLaren fans are loving the love stories of the twosome whereas others are loving to read the ever heated gossips of the Red Bull envy.
