Formula One: Media declares Fernando Alonso to be the title favourite post Brazilian GP
The Brazilian Grand Prix, held yesterday (Sunday) at the Interlagos track, saw the Red Bull drivers bag a 1-2 finish for the team, as Sebastian Vettel stood first and Mark Webber second. Still, the Ferrari driver, Fernando Alonso stays the title favourite
for the last race of the season to be hosted by Abu Dhabi, by the end of November.
The 2010 Formula One season had been one of the most sizzling and intriguing seasons witnessed in years. The entire season has unwrapped in complete suspense and thrill. For most part of the year, the top slot of the charts has been exchanged between the
McLaren driver, Lewis Hamilton and Webber. However, now as the season has finally reached its last and final destination, the Ferrari driver, Alonso is being considered as the favourite driver for the title.
After having spent half of the season in nowhere, the Ferrari driver came to the forefront all of a sudden at the German Grand Prix. Although his race win was followed by a lot of controversies and accusations of team orders, yet the driver and the team
kept striving. Now, with only one more race to go and just 25 points to play for the Spanish driver, stands at the top of the points’ tally with his 246 points. Last week’s third place ending marked the 7th podium finish by the driver in the last
eight races while he had been able to bag four victories during the last 8 races.
Now, as the Formula One caravan heads for the 19th and the last race of the most unforgettable season of the sports’ history, many of the analysts and newspapers declare Alonso to be the favourite for the world championship.
The British team McLaren is now almost out of the title tug. The battle for Jenson Button, the title defender, is completely over now as he stays 47 points’ adrift the charts’ topper. On the other hand, although Lewis Hamilton stands only 24 points off the
top, yet he has very clearly declared that his MP4-25 lacks the pace to beat the Red Bull and Ferrari.
At the same time, the two Red Bull drivers that take 3rd and 4th place in the charts are both new to this kind of pressure and stress. Vettel is very young in the sport as compared to Webber and Alonso, and this is his first close fight
for the title. Moreover, his teammate, Webber is although a far older driver in Formula One yet the championship battle is alien to him as well.
On the other hand, Alonso is a two time world Champion, he is the only competing driver from Ferrari, and hence has the undivided support and assistance of the team. Above all, he is an unmatched driver when it comes to such tough battling situations.
