Formula One: Mercedes seem hopeful for the Singapore GP
The year had not unwrapped for Mercedes GP team the way they expected it right from the start of the year. A lot of hype, fanfare and expectations were tailored by the team, as they signed the seven times World Champion, Michael Schumacher earlier this year.
However, the team and the driver both failed to deliver what everyone waited anxiously to see on the track from the team. Mercedes were not able to produce a competitive car, despite being the title winner of last year’s Constructors Championship, and at the
same time, Schumacher was not able to show even a glimpse of the racing icon he had always showcased on the tack.
However, the team Principal Ross Brawn, along with his entire crew believes that the battle is yet not over. As the Formula One caravan heads towards the next round of the season, The Singapore Grand Prix, the team is hoping to bag a few more points in their
collection.
The Formula One Official website talked to both the team drivers as well as their team principal asking about his fears and aspirations from next race.
The team driver, Nico Rosberg recalls his last two races at the track and says that he had always loved the ambiance of the venue. He added that he is thrilled to move ahead after being in Europe for a long time. Moreover, he is very excited to finally take
part in the night race which he thinks is always a great fun.
Rosberg has mixed memories from Singapore from the two races he had there. He has had two races on the track and last year’s race was not a great one, as he only ended at eleventh place. The 2008’s race on the same track is the best of his life. He was able
to finish that race at second place on the podium and he is again looking forward for a great finish this year.

The other Mercedes driver, Michael Schumacher, who has returned to the track this year after a period of three years, seems much thrilled for going to the street track of Singapore, as he proclaims, “I have always been fond of getting to know new circuits
and Singapore will definitely be an exciting adventure. I have three reasons to look forward to the weekend; it is a new circuit for me, it is a city race and it will be my first night race.”
Schumacher has always been famous for being able to learn new circuits quicker than others but this year no wonders are expected from him on this new track, owing to his form and pace all through the season.
Moreover, the team Principal Ross Brawn after several disappointing weekends this year is looking forward for having a good time race here. He talked to formula1.com saying that the entire team crew has cherished the last two races of the venue like a big
occasion and once again, they are looking forward for another exciting race. He said that this part of the season is one of the most critical and crucial part, as the cars are heading towards the last few races of 2010 season.
He was also happy to add that they have come up with some further advancement for their package, which makes them more optimistic and positive for the upcoming race. He further announced that they would be using the high down force set-up for this street
circuit which offers a low-speed drive.
He concluded by saying that keeping the competitiveness of their car in mind, they had bagged some decent points in the last two races and he hopes to see that this happens again this weekend as well.
