Formula One: Michael Schumacher declares that Mercedes GP stands firmly together
Despite facing several problems with the Mercedes GP team all through the season, the seven times world champion, Michael Schumacher still praises his team. He is happy to declare that the team stays united and is determined to see a glorious season ahead.
While talking to the media earlier this week, the 41 year old said that he has enjoyed a great atmosphere within the team all through the season, even though they have had several disappointing moments. He was glad to proclaim that they have all that is
required for a prosperous team and now he is looking forward for a very exciting season with the team in 2011.
This is the first year of the team under its new title, ‘Mercedes GP’. The same squad, with minor changes in management took part in last season as ‘Brawn GP’ having a phenomenal season. The team was able to win both the Drivers’ as well as the Constrictors’
Championship in its debut season as its driver, Jenson Button conquered six out of the initial seven tracks of the calendar.
However, the team was not able to maintain their pace and form this season despite the promising start they had. The fanfare and the hype of the team mounted immensely as the season unwrapped, not only because they were the winners of both the titles last
year but majorly because they had all the ingredients of a very powerful team. The experience of Formula One sage Ross Brawn, the expertise of the mighty Mercedes-Benz and above all the biggest racer of Formula One history, Michael Schumacher combined together
at the start of the season to form a team that was expected to be the most powerful team of the season. However, it was not very late when the hopes of the fans as well as the predictions of the sport’s analysts nullified.
Moreover, accepting the fact that the team has not lived up to the expectations of the and also realising that they would not be able to do very well in the rest of the races either, Mercedes halted further work on this year’s car and diverted all their
attention and energy towards the 2011’s package. Now as the season takes its final twists and turns, the team driver expressed a lot of optimism and hope for the forth coming season.
Schumacher believes that the team has an unmatched potential and they would bounce back in the forthcoming season in full force and strength.
As the team passed through a series of problems and disappointments, it was thought that all the distress of the season has led to several conflicts among the team members. Several similar headlines have also been seen in the media lately suggesting a lot
of tension between the team management and its drivers.
However, as they now prepare to enter the forthcoming season the German driver proclaimed,
"I have said it often: I want to build up something here together with Mercedes and I am confident that we'll manage that as the support and the opportunities of Mercedes are really strong."
Moreover, Schumacher wrote on his official website yesterday, "Sometimes not everything comes together as planned from the technical point of view, however our link is strong enough to allow things being criticised if they don't run as expected - and
this refers to all of us. It's important that we stay united within the team and I am very confident about this."
After a very long gloomy period, the team finally performed better in Japan last week. For the first time in the season, the racing icon finished as high as 6th place while his teammate Nico Rosberg was also equally fast but met an unfortunate
accident and had to pack his race.
With only three more races to go this season, they expect to embrace good times pretty soon.
