Formula One: Michael Schumacher pleased with the ending of the season
Michael Schumacher is finally happy with the Mercedes GP team. After having embraced a dull and low 2010 season, the seven times world champion finally praises the team for showing some good display as the season now takes its final twists and turns.
The team ended up its up gradations this year in August, proclaiming that they have been already dropped down from the tug of the title. Hence, they should not waste their time and resources on current car. Instead, they had been one of the initial teams
who shifted all their focus towards making a good 2011 car.
However, as they headed for the 4th and 3rd last races of the season this month, the Japanese and the Korean Grand Prix, they surprisingly performed well. The racing icon, Schumacher believes that the last two races were very positive
for the team’s hopes and they would be able to do equally good in the upcoming season as well.
The same team, under the title of Brawn GP performed exceptionally good last year during their debut season. Under the supervision of Ross Brawn, the team won both the Drivers’ as well as the Constructors’ Title of the 2009 season with their driver, Jenson
Button.
However, they entered this season with a great hype and fanfare yet the team was not able to come up to the measures of the fans. By signing one of the biggest names of the racing world, Michael Schumacher, the graph of expectation rose very high for the
team. However, since the beginning of the season they were not able to meet these expectations. The team failed to provide the German with a competitive car, whereas the German was unsuccessful in getting the best out of what he was handed.
Now, as they finally come close towards the pack up time, Michael had finally been able to give a glimpse of the old racer on the track. The last race in Korea saw him get past some very competitive cars and end at 4th place for the first time
this year. Well, one cannot ignore the fact that had it been a few years back the icon could have easily made to the top as he has always been a hero of wet rainy circuits. Nonetheless, seeing him at 4th place was also nothing less than a treat
for his fans and a ray of hope for his team.
The driver, on returning from the last race, talked to the media saying, "The season is coming to an end and I have to say that I am very impressed with how our guys have coped with it, especially in the last few flyaway races. Even though we have not
had any big developments recently, we have still delivered promising performances.”
Moreover, at the Japanese Grand Prix earlier this month he was able to finish at sixth place, which till then, marked his best finish of the season.
“Our fighting spirit is good and we would like to finish the season in a positive way. So I am looking forward to going to Sao Paulo and hopefully achieving another result that I can be happy with.” During the Korean grand prix last weekend, the team
boss, Ross Brawn said the suspension of the development programme on the W01 had actually allowed the team to understand the car better and fine-tune the performance of parts introduced earlier in the season.
Now, with only two more races to go and 50 points to fight more, the team hopes to have a pretty good end of the season. Though they lost hopes for the 2010 season’s title, however their fine finishes now have served them with a fresh hope for next season.
