Formula One: Mid Season Analysis, Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel
Though half of the season had already gone, still Formula One continues being ignited and heated up with every passing race. The teams, drives and cars as well as on and off track issues all had been able to keep the auto sport fans glued to the proceedings of the race. The season has turned out to be one of the most nerve tickling and nail biting one. Even after ten races, it is hard to say which one of the drivers are evidently winning the title, though some have been able to do really good.
Despite the fact that many had been giving great racing spectacles all through the season, four of the drivers have proved to be the toughest competitors of the season. Two of them are the McLaren men, Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button and the other two are the Red Bull drivers, Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel. Other than Webber, all the three have so far bagged two race wins each and are moving forward with equal pace and form.
For the German, the season had been a good one right from the beginning. He has shown some great racing display last season as well, when he had good luck almost all through the season and  ended at second place in the Drivers’ Standings of 2009. This year as well, he did good right from the start of the season, only that he had few bad instances here and there around the season.
The first race of the season was not too bad for him, as he started from the pole and ended at the forth place at the Bahrain Grand Prix. Later in Australia, he went short of luck and had to retire from the race. The beginning of April brought him a purple patch, as he started the race from third place on the grid and ended it at first. In the next race in China, he ended at the sixth place though he did exceptionally good in qualifying and was able to begin the race from pole.
The next two races also went good for him, as he was able to get hold of fifteen and eighteen points; he finished at second and third places at Spanish and later at the Monaco Grand Prix’s respectively. He entered the Turkish Grand Prix with seventy eight points and was able to do well at the qualifying as well. He started the race from third place and was doing very good till both the teammates collided into each other, as they were leading the race one-two and Vettel had to retire for the second time in the season, whereas Webber ended at third place.
The next race of the season was held in Montreal, Canada, where he started from second place and ended at forth behind his teammate Webber, whereas the first two places were claimed by the McLaren drivers, repeating their victory of Turkey. The last race of June was a great one for him, as he began the race from pole and was able to have his second victory of the season, collecting a total of one hundred and fifteen points.
The last race held earlier this month had not been a fine one for him, as the Red Bull team raced amidst a lot of drama and speculations, owing to the team decision of replacing the front wing of Vettel’s car with Webber’s new ones, as the former had his front wings damaged before the qualifying session. The act greatly offended Webber, as he said the he had been treated as a number two driver of the team. In all aggression and rage, he drove for the first place, whereas his teammate was hardly able to end at seventh place.
Overall, the season had been good for Vettel, as he stands at the fourth place in the Drivers’ Championship with a total of one hundred and twenty one points, one place behind Webber. Vettel is considered to be one of the promising talents of Formula One, who yet has a long way to go. Red Bull racing is trying to sign the driver for another five years at least, though they already have a contract till the end of 2011. Well, half of the season is yet to go, so wait and watch if he would be able to leap three positions and make his way to the top of the charts, with the best car of the season and all support of the team with him.
