Formula One News: Red Bull car RB6 ready to lead in Valencia
Red Bull team boss Christian Horner seems happier than ever before. The much awaited F-Duct system is finally ready to be introduced at the European Grand Prix which will make the Red Bull car the fastest car for this season.
The Red Bull chief technical officer, Adrian Newey, discussed the new system with the Red Bull driver Sebastian Vettel, who explained that the car had been revamped for the next Grand Prix scheduled to be held this weekend in Spain. The German driver was very optimistic that the new system would surely benefit them at the Valencia Circuit. The F-Duct system involves a drag-reducing device that was introduced by Team McLaren for the first time this weekend. With this system, it is supposed that speed would be gained far more on the straight lines up to 6 mph.
There are a lot of gossips that the system had been a copy of the McLaren’s design. However, the Red Bull team claims that the concept might have been borrowed from their engineers. Moreover, Horner is very much sure that at the Red Bull base in Milton Keynes, their technical team has done a brilliant work for the improvement of RB6. The team expects to have some great results out of the advancements they have made in their machine.
At the last Grand Prix in Canada, the team lost their top standing at the drivers’ Championship as McLaren captured it with a total of two hundred and fifteen points. Red Bull ended at second place with a total of one hundred and eight points. The two drivers of Red Bull team crashed into each other at the Turkish Grand Prix. At the Canadian Grand Prix, the drivers were not able to perform in order to keep their top positions secured. In Montreal, Vettel and Webber ended at the fourth and fifth places respectively.
In addition to the improvements in the Red Bull car, the team also seems to be happy with the track in Valencia as well as with the current form of the drivers. The circuit in Valencia has fast corners that are hoped to suit the Red Bull car very well. The outcome of all the hard work that Adrian Newey had been carrying in the factory to get the F-Duct system ready will hopefully assist Red Bull on the long straights.
Another grave problem which caused a poor show in the last grand prix’s was the reliability issues with the car. At the Canadian Grand Prix, Webber suffered badly due to a gear box issue with his car which resulted in him losing five spots at the grid and a race performance which was a little more than compromising.
Similarly, Vettel has also had problems with transmission earlier in the season. The mechanical problems that both the drivers have faced have ultimately made the team decline through their initial positions for the drivers’ as well as the constructors’ championship, despite the great form that both the drivers have lately displayed.
However, Horner has no doubts in his mind. He completely believes that the situation is completely under their control and there is no need to panic. He is looking forward for the upcoming races as a success for their team, informing that they have the best cars and the best drivers of the season.
It is only a couple of days left and we will witness how far the car and the drivers would be able to prove their potential.
