Formula One: Now is the time to be aggressive – Lewis Hamilton
The two-time champion, Lewis Hamilton said that he would not bridle in his aggressive approach to his racing, as he hopes to get back into the chase for the championship more closely at Suzuka.
After two consecutive retirements, Hamilton’s title expectations have been dented but the 2008 world champion claims that there is no reason to change his driving style for the last four races in order to stay in the hunt.
Two successive DNFs have seen Hamilton's title aspirations dented but the 2008 world champion says he sees no reason to change his driving style in order to stay in the hunt.
“As drivers we are always on the ragged edge. We are always trying to gain position whilst staying safe. Some of us are more aggressive than others in those positions. Some people do a lot less overtaking than others,” said Hamilton earlier today.
He will just try to keep himself out of trouble and it is not easy. One cannot change how racing is and racing incidents happen every now and then according to Lewis, so one can expect anything.
“I'm clearly looking at all of the races that I've done and looking at how my approach has been and trying to evaluate and try to take a step back and try to see it as something I can improve on, of course,” he added.
It is not easy to state what will happen at a particular part of the season. However, Hamilton does not want to be the driver who goes out and drives without overtaking anyone. That would be a safe finish and it is easy but Hamilton believes that he is not
that way and that will not happen anytime soon.
Lewis was excited about driving at one of his favourite track of the season when the practice sessions begins this Friday.
Hamilton added that he was once again looking forward to driving at one of his favourite circuits when Friday's free practice session begins.
"Watching Michael race, watching Ayrton [Senna] race down here and [Alain] Prost. It seemed, at least while watching growing up, one of the very tough circuits but very much a driver's circuit,” he said.
However, Lewis will have to try to keep it as safe as possible because if he retires in any one of the final four races, he would have to kiss the 2010 drivers’ title good-bye.
