Formula One: Red Bull Team Principal Talks About The Team’s Future Plans
Red Bull has been able to make its mark as one of the strongest teams of Formula One in short time. The team had become a threat and fear for all the others in just a matter of a couple of years. The Austrian team was able to establish itself as frontrunners of the 2009 season, and now during this season, they have become unquestionably the best team of the season having scored nine pole positions and five victories so far, which is phenomenal.
Although there had been a few rough patches here and there during the season but still the team had been able to keep its lead. As the team returns from Silverstone after grabbing another victory, the Red Bull team principal, Christian Horner talks to the Formula One official website expressing his views about the team’s current standing as well as its future plans.
Last year the team was able to finish at second place in the Drivers and Constructors Championship and also was successful in winning six races. At the end of the season, many proclaimed that the team had been lucky this season for the big brothers were sleeping that year, as teams like McLaren and Ferrari were further back. However, the team had been able to demonstrate that they are a front-running team and could take a challenge from any team at all. The team principal said that they have been successful in coming a long way in a very short period of time, though they had to face huge and iconic problems as well. He said that now he feels proud of the team for the progress they have managed to make over the last few years in order to cement the team’s position as a true frontrunner.
The team has experienced a fair share of reliability issues this season, but their innovative RB6 been able to keep them ahead of all others at every stage. With their entry in the calendar development in the Formula One car have been pushed to its extremes. While commenting on the car, Horner said that of course, the car had kept them ahead of others and of course, there are advantages of having the fastest car, however it is only a car and not a silver bullet. He said that they have also faced issues all through out the season like any other team. For example, the spark-plug failure at the season opener in Bahrain that kept Sebastian from winning the race and later had a wheel-nut issue at one of the races. He also added that in Barcelona, Sebastian faced a brake issue but was still able to manage to finish in third. Therefore, he expressed that more or less they face the same issues as their competitors but only try to act smartly to come out of them.
While answering a question about the title he told that he thinks that yet there is a long way to go in the championship. He expressed that he is looking forward for having a fascinating second half to the season. He added that McLaren do not scare them but still no one could claim with full confidence that they are going to stand on top by the end of the year.
While talking about the future plans of the team he stated that the team would want to have the same drivers next year as well. He said that it is very important for the team as both the drivers are well known to the team and are very competitive. He concluded by saying that there is no one he could see to replace the team’s drivers, as he thinks they are the best drivers he would ever want for the team.
