Formula One: Red Bull bags the championship only after their 6th season
The Red Bull Racing’s team boss Christian Horner, is all but jubilant for hailing the first ever Constructors' Championship in just a time span of six seasons. The one-two finish by the team drivers, Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel at the Brazilian Grand
Prix brought home another 43 points thus sealing their first constructors’ title.
The 18th race of the season, held last Sunday, marked the eighth race win for the team, while it was the fourth one-two finish by the two drivers so far. Besides the fact, that the battle was a tough one, with two very strong rivals, McLaren and
Ferrari, the Red Bull had been able to keep its dominance all through the season.
Horner has been leading the team right from its beginning in 2005 and has brought the team a long way. Since its inception, the Austrian squad was considered as a group of fun lovers which are all but serious, yet the team boss proudly declared that they
have finally embraced what they deserved.
The party has already started, and would surely be going on for a long while. In his champagne drenched shirt, the handsome team principal said,
"What has happened today is unbelievable. To see the joy on the faces of so many guys, who have put so much time in, with the all-nighters and all the hours and hours of work, not just here but back in Milton Keynes, is fantastic. Given what has gone into
this year, I don't think there is a more dedicated and committed team in the pit lane.”
He was glad to exclaim that for the team, it is their biggest dream that has come true, and one for which they have all strived very hard.
While recalling the journey that the Red Bull crew has together covered, Horner exclaimed that in the past six years they have developed immensely. He very lucidly accepted that it was not very long ago when nobody considered them seriously and thought them
to be a bunch of party men entered into the world championship.
While addressing the press, Horner stated, "Admittedly as soon as we joined F1 we brought a new energy and went about things differently and the way we were involved in F1. But it didn't mean we were any less serious or committed than any other team
- we were just different.”
He further stated that thanks to the tremendous dedication of all the team, with the vision and unfaltering commitment from the owner, Dietrich Mateschitz, it is a very proud day for everyone in the team.
Horner was pleased to declare that having won the Formula One constructors' world championship is a big thing, what makes it further more special is the dominant fashion with which they have packed it.
After having bagged one of the titles, the team is now looking forward for the other one, the Drivers’ Championship. With only one more race to take place at the end of November, the team is all but determined to grab the other title as well. While talking
to the media after the Brazilian Grand Prix, Horner told that the team will enjoy and celebrate tonight and then the preparation for the final tug would begin.
The Red Bull drivers, Webber and Vettel stand at 2nd and 3rd places in the points’ tally, while the chances of both the drivers remain equally same. With their 238 and 231 points respectively, they are still fighting for the drivers'
title, while Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso leads the charts with his 246 points.
Horner accepts the fact that the team's exertion is far from over yet. He sees the next two weeks as more demanding than the earlier ones. The team boss concluded saying,
"We are determined to try and finish the season on an absolute high, and although we know it is going to be tough next weekend, we will still believe it is achievable."
