Formula One: Red Bull confident about Suzuka, Japanese GP
Current championship leader, Mark Webber remains confident despite the fact that Ferrari has been the most dominant team of the top three since the past 5 races, as Fernando Alonso won 3 out of the past 5 races. The Spaniard is now just 11 points short of
Mark Webber and it seems that Ferrari is the strongest team out of the three at the moment. However, Mark Webber is naturally not going to back down and is optimistic that Red Bull can do well at Suzuka in Japan and replicate their last year’s performance.
“The momentum is currently with Ferrari going into the race, as they have had two victories on the bounce, but the point’s situation is still very open. It's nice that I have a little buffer, it's not very big but it's something I would rather have
than not,” Webber said.
Webber believes that the Suzuka circuit at the Japanese Grand Prix is better suited for the Red Bulls this year and the team might just get the edge there.
“Suzuka is a track that all the drivers love and I'm looking forward to it. I think we will be very competitive; we need to go there and get the maximum out of what we have,”
he added.
Mark Webber’s teammate Sebastian Vettel agreed with his teammate. Sebastian Vettel is currently in 4th place in the drivers’ standings just 21 points behind his teammate who is leading this year’s driver’s championship currently. Sebastian Vettel
has been the best driver statistically out of the new comers in the Formula 1. The German driver is widely supported by many professional former drivers like David Coulthard and Eddie Jordan. The 25-year-old driver is driving in his 4th Formula
1 season currently and has been at the top of his game since the beginning of his career with outstanding results. Sebastian Vettel believes that the coming race at Suzuka should suit the Red Bulls better than their rivals McLaren and Ferrari but the team
has to prove its dominance. The young driver claims that Red Bull has the best overall car this year as the car has been giving top-notch performances on all sorts of circuits so the team is confident about this weekend as well.
“Last year was very good and I think we should get a good result again. There are still a lot of drivers fighting for the title and they are very close to each other, it is tight and a lot of things can still happen. We need to make sure we get the best
out of ourselves and then we will see,” he said.
Red Bull came out of nowhere last year as they came second in the constructors’ championship surprisingly behind Brawn GP giving outstanding performances. The 2009 Formula 1 season was quite an outbreak for the back running teams as Brawn GP won both titles
in its debut season and Red Bull were the only team to match their cars. McLaren and Ferrari were nowhere to be seen in the points comparatively.
However, this year has been more of an all-rounder season with the new points system that enables the back runners to score some points as well, this year’s Formula 1 season has been quite exciting and promising for almost all the teams on the grid. The
Formula 1 brought 2 new teams on the grid this season and they have not been so bad either.
The 2010 season is drawing to its end and it seems that Red Bull might not be unbeatable in terms of points as both of the drivers are not disappointing their fans and finishing in the top five consistently. It seems that Red Bull is on the right track and
since the team is confident about the Japanese Grand Prix, Red Bull might have an extra advantage this weekend and increase their lead in both drivers’ and constructors’ standings bringing them closer to the championship titles.
