Formula One: Red Bull dominates Sunday qualifying at Suzuka, Japanese GP
The Red Bulls dominate the qualifying session that was postponed until Sunday due to bad weather on Saturday. This was a rare occasion as the qualifying session and the race were expected to take place on a Sunday.
With a busy day ahead, the drivers had to perform in an hour and half qualifying session before an hour and a half race. The conditions were quite decent this morning as there was no rain and it seemed that according to the practice sessions on Friday, Red
Bull will dominate the track and yes they did.
Both Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber were more than 3 tenths of a second clear than the McLaren Lewis Hamilton, who surprisingly qualified in 3rd place. With Sebastian Vettel on pole followed by his teammate Mark Webber, it seems that Japan will
be another Red Bull dominated race later on today.
The top 3 were followed by Robert Kubica in 4th place surprisingly. Jenson Button on the other hand was not able to cope up with the top 3 as he qualified in 6th place behind the Ferrari of Fernando Alonso in 5th place. Nico
Rosberg timed in as the 7th fastest and once again, beat his teammate the 7 time world champion Michael Schumacher who qualified in 10th place behind Rubens Barrichello and Nico Hulkenberg in 8th and 9th place respectively
in their Williams.
The race is going to be tough and brutal at the same time as there is no turning back now and the top 5 will fight for the title by any means necessary. It seems that Red Bull might have the edge in terms of the constructors’ standings however, the drivers’
championship is still quite uncertain. With Lewis Hamilton in third place, one can expect anything in the first lap but Lewis will have to keep it safe as he must finish the race with at least some points in order to stay in the championship.
This is a vital race for the top five and if they want to stay in the championship, they must finish the race as there is no room for any mistakes now.
