Formula One: Schumacher Admits His Mistake and Apologises
It had been just another bad day for the Mercedes driver, Michael Schumacher. All through the season, the stars of the seven times World Champion had not been able to shine on the track. Not only that, the racing icon had not been able to score some good points all through the season but also he had been the centre of criticism and controversies all over. Once again, the German has been found amidst a lot of heat and controversies following the Hungarian Grand Prix.
This time the king racer had apologised his former teammate Rubens Barrichello for the aggressive act he demonstrated on the track at the race last Sunday. Following the race day, on Monday evening he was found saying that he admits the fact that he had been a little “too hard” on Barrichello, while he was attempting to block his way at the Hungarian Grand Prix.
In Budapest, last weekend, at the twelfth race of the season, Schumacher almost edged the previous Mercedes driver, Rubens Barrichello so harshly that he hardly prevented him from crashing into the pit wall.
Barrichello, who had been real determined all through the season and had been able to pull his Williams faster than its capacity, was doing a good job at this race as well, as he maintained fifth place for a long time. Initially he ran much part of the race on harder tyres but later at lap fifty five, he switched to the softer ones.
After leaving the pit, he found himself following his former teammate, which he continued doing till 66th Lap, where he started racing alongside Schumacher. Soon he found the chance to over pass the driver, on one of the very few straights that the track offers. Here he was faced the outrageous and aggressive behaviour of the German, who tried his best to stop him from over taking. Schumacher’s stunt was however, of no use, as the race ended to leave Schumacher pointless once again. Whereas, the Spanish man packed the race at tenth place, one place ahead of the German, with a lead of forty seconds.
On the other hand, the angry man was handed a penalty of 10- Grid positions for the upcoming race in Belgium, at the end of this month. As the stewards of Hungary announced the penalty Mercedes proclaimed that, they do not want to argue with the stewards’ decision and are willing to accept it without any further argument.
Now the forty one year old has also admitted that he went far beyond the line to prevent Barrichello from overtaking him, while he had no intensions of hurting the other driver. While talking to the media in a post race conference, the Mercedes driver said that his tactics had been harsh but fair and that he does not understand the decision of the stewards, for he did not do anything wrong.
Well, only after a day he was fair enough to admit on his official website saying that, “Yesterday right after the race I was still in the heat of the moment, but after I watched the scene with Rubens again, I must say that the stewards were right in their assessment - the maneuver against him was too hard.”
He further added that it was a race and of course, everybody wishes to win and at the same time wish to prevent the competitor from crossing and that is what he was also doing. He said that all he wished was to stop him from overtaking and did not want to endanger his life at all.
Moreover, he went on saying that if Barrichello felt anything bad than he was sorry, that was not his intentions.
