Formula One: Schumacher Seems Thrilled To Race In His Home Town, at the German GP this weekend
Michael Schumacher seems excited and thrilled after a long time as the Formula One caravan moves to his home land, Germany. The next destination of the Formula One calendar is Hockenheim, where the race is scheduled to be held this weekend.
Just a few days before heading for the race, Schumacher says that he is looking forward for an emotional weekend, as this would be his first home race since he returned to racing earlier this year.
The last time the German racer contested his home race was in the year 1996, then he was with the team Ferrari. This Sunday it would be the first time Schumacher races with Mercedes in Germany.
Just a few days before the race, the seven times world champion Michael Schumacher said that, "There is one thing for sure; no matter how long you are around, it is always something special to race in front of your home crowd". He expressed his feelings while talking to media in a special race preview.
He further explained that at a home race, the support and love of the fans is so overwhelming that one does not race itself or for points, rather races for the fans. He added that at Hockenheim, he would definitely try his best to give a great race finish to his fans, which had extended immense support all through the season.
For any driver the home is always very special but this time it is more special for him, as he had not been able to perform up to the expectations of the people all through the season and now he wishes not to disappoint his home fans.
Regarding the German track he said that there are hardly any areas on any race circuits around the world that could be compared to Motodrom, as the atmosphere here is so energetic and inspiring that it overwhelms the drivers.
As this is the first time for him to come to Hockenheim in a Mercedes car, he expressed his feelings saying that he is looking forward to have a great driving experience. He felt thrilled with the feeling of being able to drive in front of the Grandstand and in front of the entire crew, members and friends of Mercedes-Benz. Schumacher seems extra motivated to present them all an extraordinary weekend that would be remembered by all for long.
He also proclaimed his joy at the fact that the team had come up with some updates in the car and he is really optimistic about the changes as he thinks that this is going to give them an opportunity to move a step forward in the point’s tally.
The other Team-mate Nico Rosberg is also excited and thrilled as this would be his home Grand Prix as well. The younger German has had some good racing earlier this season as well especially when he was able to finish at third place at Silverstone.
While commenting on the upcoming race Rosberg said that, "There's always a great atmosphere at the German Grand Prix and the fans are very enthusiastic with the huge grandstands in the stadium section creating so much noise!”
He further told that the support and love they all show for the German drivers is always fantastic. He added that the track is also awesome and every time he drives here, he loves it even more.
The track had always thrilled the drivers, as it is quite challenging with some great overtaking opportunities and driving is always an exciting experience here.
With only a couple of days to go, all Mercedes fans and especially Michael Schumacher’s fans wish to see some great racing spectacle.
