Formula One: Sebastian Vettel still optimistic about his title chase
Team Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel is still not ruling out his title chances as he thinks that he since he is just 25 points adrift of the new championship leader Fernando Alonso. Vettel believes it is still easily achievable if he performs at his best in
the final two races in Brazil and Abu Dhabi.
Vettel led the race for more than 75% of the race before a late disappointing mechanical failure that forced him to retire out of the race.
“I think we can [win it]. There are still 50 points to go. Obviously it would have been much easier if we had won today. That's life, that's how it goes sometimes,” said Vettel shortly after his retirement.
He believes that his team was performing very well in the first wet race of the season but some unfortunate incidents ruled out their dominance giving the team a pointless result with just 2 more races left in the season.
“There has been a little bit too much of it for us this season. Ups and down, everyone has had those, but I think we have had quite a lot in particular, but you can't change it,” he added.
The Red Bull RB6 was clearly the best team on track despite his and his teammate’s retirement at the Korean Grand Prix. However, the German is optimistic about the coming two races and hopes to score maximum points in the final two events.
“So we will keep our head down and keep doing what we were doing up to now. Just trying to get the best out of the car and I think in terms of speed there is nothing to improve. It's obviously not a very nice moment but I think it was a very tricky and
difficult race for all of us,” said the German.
The young Red Bull driver thinks that to be on top of the field all the time and controlling the race was nearly impossible after taking a look at his tyres. The team just could not have done better as they were also the best team during the qualifying session
by a mile and they were having the perfect weekend before their unfortunate retirements.
However, the title chase is far from over as the top 4 drivers are just divided by 25 points and the championship just keeps getting better and better with every race.
