Formula One: Team Sauber to launch their car before the pre-season test sessions in Abu Dhabi
Most of the teams recently revealed that they will launch their 2011 Formula 1 car before the pre-season test sessions that are expected to take place in Abu Dhabi starting from the 1st of February. Other than Sauber, Ferrari is expected to reveal
its new car on the 31st of January a day before the test sessions.
It would be interesting to see what the engineers came up with for the 2011 Formula 1 season keeping in mind the major rules and regulation changes according to the FIA’s official rules and regulation report for 2011.
According to the report, the teams will be allowed to use KERS (Kinetic Energy Recovery System) once again and it seems that it would add a little more spice to the race but some of the critics believe that a “boost” is not a part of Formula 1. However,
it is going to be used by most of the major teams and since it is heavy in weight, most of the teams hope to come up with a chassis that would make up for the weight gained by the device.
Some of the drivers like Fernando Alonso and Rubens Barrichello claim that they will lose some weight in order to compensate for the weight increase and it is definitely great to see the dedication these drivers are showing.
Nevertheless, Team Sauber is going to unveil its C30 car in the morning on the 31st of January before they demonstrate a couple of laps on their new machine mainly for filming purposes. It seems that it is going to be the first 2011 Formula 1
car that is going to be driven on track.
The design of C30 was led by technical director James Key and this is the first time James ever led the design of a Formula 1 car.
Sauber revealed its drivers officially and it seems that they are going to keep Kamui Kobayashi for another season but they have replaced Nick Heidfeld with Sergio Perez for the 2011 Formula season. As a result, Nick Heidfeld is now looking for a full time
driving seat at one of the teams but it seems that it is not going to be easy for him to find one in the current circumstances since most of the teams are already occupied.
