Formula One: The Formula One Caravan Plans Its Summer Break with Friends and Family
They are tired and exhausted now! Right from the start of the season, the Formula One caravan had been working hard, really hard and now it is time that the factories that run around the clock, the drivers that had been toiling day and night, the teams that have brunt lamps night after night take a break, sit back and relax, before they stand again for the latter half of the combat.
Following the Hungarian Grand Prix, this Monday, Formula One split for the summer vacation, as all the drivers and the team members packed up and headed towards their families and friends for a three week break.
The holiday falls as a part of the agreement signed by all teams in order to provide some time to the staff to relax, as well as spend some time with their families and friends. In addition, this gives them time to prepare for the final rounds of the season after undergoing a long hectic and demanding routine.
The current chart leaders of the Constructors’ as well as the Drivers’ Championship, Red Bull’s Mark Webber, is also off to a nice long holiday. The last race had been just a perfect finish for the team, before going away for a long celebration. As Webber leaves the head quarters of the team on Monday morning he commented, “Could not have asked for anything better as a holiday gift.”
On the other hand, the McLaren are just not in the mood for a holiday and having the factory shut at this moment is the last thing they could have wished for.
The last race had been one of the worst races of the team all through the season. Heading for vacation after having one of its drivers finish the race pointless and the other at fourth place was not at all, what McLaren had wished for.
McLaren closed its factory with a very heavy heart for a period of two weeks right after the stroke of midnight on Sunday.
McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton was looking forward for a break with much anticipation. For him, this summer was very special, as he has had a patch up with his girlfriend Nicole Scherzinger, the lead singer of the American pop band Pussycat Dolls. Moreover, Hamilton is also expecting to further sooth things between his father and himself, after having dispute for a long period of time but the race last week left the driver with a bad taste in the mouth for the next three away weeks.
He currently stands at the second pace in the tally, having lost his first to Webber, who leads with four points. With seven races, yet to go the British driver wants to snatch back his lead as early as the next race at Spa, Bahrain.
On the other hand, his team mate Jenson Button walked out of the race satisfied though not very jubilant. He was only able to finish the last race at Hungary on forth place, which made him lose his second place in the charts making him fall to forth place. Yet at the same time, he is happy for having patched up with his girl friend, Jessica Michibata, who was present at Hungary last Sunday, to cheer the driver and celebrate the reunion. Now the two are looking forward to a long holiday together, as they had not been seeing each other since May.
Nico Rosberg, the Mercedes GP driver has planned to spend the holiday in Kitzbuehel, as he would be taking part in triathlons while his teammate Michael Schumacher, is happy to spend some time with his wife and children. He says that after an absence of three years from the track, the season seems to be very demanding and hectic.
