Formula One: Top Three Teams Of The Season
The season has unfolded very interestingly, as all the top three teams and their six drivers seem equally competent. They have been giving great entertainment with the competition heating, especially between Red Bull and McLaren; both teams have been able to give a head to head match to each other all through the season.
At third place stands Ferrari, that won the first race of the season but was not able to do very well all through the rest of the season and now after the German Grand Prix, they have proved to have one of the fastest cars and they might give a tough race the rest of the season.
The top six drivers of the season who are expected to give a good fight till the end of the season are analysed as per their strengths and weaknesses as follows:
Lewis Hamilton- McLaren
Strengths:
Currently he stands at the top of the charts with having bagged two race wins of the season. This season he had been able to prove to be the fastest driver around, despite the fact that he does not have the fastest car of the season. His class that impressed everyone in his debut year, 2007 is visible once again this year.
Weaknesses:
At the start of the year, Lewis detached himself from his father who had managed him right from the start of his career, explaining that he wanted more independence and better management; well his decision had been taken very offensively by his family as well as his fans.
Jenson Button- McLaren
Strengths:
The other McLaren driver and the title defender stands at the second place with two race wins so far seem very promising. For Jenson to have won two races is very encouraging, as he had his team changed this season. His naturally calm and relaxed nature is serving him quite well on and off the track and the new team had given him equal space despite being known as the Hamilton’s team.
Weaknesses:
Apparently both the team drivers are treated equally as they started the session showing equal potential, however as the season has unfolded, Hamilton seems to have an upper hand in McLaren, not out of any prejudice but due to better racing.
Sebastian Vettel- Red Bull
Strengths:
The German driver for Red Bull stands alongside his teammate at third place having bagged two race wins so far.  He had been incredibly quick showing great natural talent. Unlike the German legendry driver, with whom he is often compared, he seems less obsessed with engineers and designers and is far more approachable.
Weaknesses:
The team disputes have damaged his repute, as he was accused of getting more favour from the team. Vettel still holds a long way to go, but he’s predicted as one of the strongest men in the upcoming years. However, this season his victory is less possible owing to the great form that Hamilton is portraying on the track, race after race.
Mark Webber- Red Bull
Strengths:
The Australian driver and the only one to have won three races this season, shares the third place with his teammate. His determination and fighting spirit is unmatched this season.
Weaknesses:
Like his team-mate, he had also been under much criticism due to the team rivalry. Well, the show in Turkey and later the incident of Silverstone had brought much negative impact for the team as well as the drivers.
Fernando Alonso- Ferrari
Strengths:
The Spanish driver had been able to bag the second victory of the season but amidst all the criticism and controversy, as he is said to have granted this victory by his teammate Felipe Massa. His talent is unquestionable which he had proved in the previous two world championship victories but this year he had not been very lucky besides the season starter at Bahrain.
Weaknesses:
He had failed to show the complete focus and single-mindedness that is required to finish at No. 1 position. Despite the great car, he might not be one of the biggest threats especially after the fire and dispute ignited at Hockenheim.
Felipe Massa- Ferrari
Strengths:
A bad season for Massa, who had finished twice for the second place and this time at Hockenheim his second place finish, is attributed to team order.  After surviving from the life-claiming head injury last year, he still had been able to do very well.
Weaknesses:
The car has though improved now but he is simply not fast enough to beat the top four drivers of the season, especially after giving up the opportunity to win the last race.
