Formula One: Webber Believes That Rb6 Will Perform On All Upcoming Tracks
Mark Webber of Red Bull sees some real bright days ahead. He thinks that the team is close to winning the title race, as their car is suitable for all the forthcoming tracks just as brilliantly as it has suited in the past twelve races of the season.
The summer break could not have come at a better time for Red Bull. After having a clear lead at the Hungarian Grand Prix and finally getting the top slot at the Drivers’ as well as at the Constructors’ Championship, the team could cherish the three weeks break comfortably now.
Webber was able to demonstrate evidently in the last race that he was ‘the quickest man in the fastest car’ of the season and hence was able to leave the Ferrari driver, Fernando Alonso, over a second a lap. With this fourth race win of the season, he had claimed the top position of the Drivers' Championship standings back from Lewis Hamilton.
However, despite the fact that the Red Bull were pretty fast last month, one cannot forget the fact that still there is 175 points to play for in the remaining seven races of the season, and the tally could alter any moment. The Aussie also agrees to the fact that it is too early to talk about the World title, yet he is fully confident about the Red Bull’s chances to win.
While there are talks all around that the Red Bull have already achieved all that was possible for them this season, as the rest of the tracks are not expected to suit them. Nevertheless Webber declares that the car has proved to stand a step ahead of all others, performing brilliantly well on all the tracks and now again he is certain that the team would be able to do equally good for the rest of the season as well.
In a video interview to the Red Bull's official website he said, "For sure Singapore should be good, Suzuka, Brazil and Abu Dhabi. We're a little bit worried about how the long straights might go at some of the other venues, at maybe Monza.”
He furthermore added that the car is very strong on almost all the tracks which give them the confidence that they could move ahead of anyone at any place.
"The RB6 should perform everywhere - we are looking forward to that,” added the racer excitedly. He said that very soon after the summer break the teams are moving for Spa, which he thinks would be a time to add another victory to the season’s standings.
Webber said what is needed the most to win the title is to be consistent on the track, which they have already been all through the season. He added that their form and car has kept a continuous upward graph right from the beginning.
Moreover, he went on saying that the season had seen some small hiccups here and there regarding the team environment however, he was happy that all such issues are now resolved and the team moves ahead with new spirits now.
"Of course Sebastian (Vettel) and I are pushing each other pretty hard as well to beat each other and you need to get everything right."
The 33-year-old in the end admits that he thinks the rest of the season is going to be a real competitive one and with Ferrari in such a great pace and McLaren drivers in such a good form the three teams would be having a real head to head competition.
Webber concluded saying that, "I have a few of my goals already in the pocket this year, which is sensational, but we have some great races coming up in the future, some real signature events which would be great to win."
