Formula One news: Force India ‘quiet confident’ for Monza
After their nice finish at the Belgian Grand Prix, Force India is looking forward to have another great racing weekend this Sunday.
The team proclaimed that they are "not sitting back" as the season has reached its last and most important part that would be deciding the next Champion of both the drivers’ as well as the constructors’ championship.
During the last week’s race at Spa both the team drivers were able to return home bagging some points, as Adrian Sutil finished at fifth place grabbing ten points, while Tonio Liuzzi was able to claim one point ending his race at tenth position.
Now, as the team moves for fourteenth round of the season, they hope to have another race in which both the drivers would be able to return having some more points to their collection.
Vijay Mallya, Force India’s team principal, pronounced his hopes of keeping the sixth place of Constructors' Championship saved till the end of the season, as they currently stand at sixth place followed by Williams who secured forty points so far.
Well, the team is not much hopeful for moving one place ahead, to the fifth place since that is currently occupied by Renault with a wide margin, as they have one hundred and twenty three points.
Mallya started off telling, "Yet again Spa was a good track for us, ultimately yielding double points finish for Adrian and Tonio.”
He explained that the points gained at the last race are of great significance for the team, as it had secured their sixth place in the Constructors' Championship. With this score, the team had been able to gain an advantage of 18 points from their follower, Williams standing at seventh place. He continued telling that these points also provided new impetus to the entire team to fight in the final part of the season.
He was happy with all the work that had been carried in the factory that has provided the drivers with the competitive car, as he expects that they would be able to handle the next race with same encouragement.
While talking about the rest of the six races of the season, Mallya stated that the next few tracks like in Monza, Japan and Brazil are alike in their configuration, which makes them hope to have similar positive results.
"Of course we know that the on-track fights will intensify and it's not going to be easy to consolidate our position but we feel the momentum is with us now. Adrian and Tonio both raced very well and we've been given a real boost by the double points - we needed it after a couple of frustrating weekends before the summer break," the Indian team’s boss told.
He very politely added that the team is, "cautiously optimistic and quietly confident" for the rest of the season.
However, he added determinedly that the past race has not made them over-confident or laidback, rather they are all doing a lot of extra work to keep the pace and form maintained. He further explained that the factory is very busy in improving and testing their blown diffuser nowadays.
Force India has efficiently conducted an aero test last week to examine some developments that they have introduced to their system recently.
Vijay Mallya, one of the biggest businessmen of India concluded telling, "We will also use a low downforce package to suit the top speeds we reach in Monza, which is a further refinement of the Spa package. We're cautiously optimistic and quietly confident - if it all comes together, I would hope we could show a similar level of performance and results to Spa, but there are so many varying factors that you just can't take anything for granted at this stage in the season."
