Formula One news: Jules Bianchi striving to make place in F1
Jules Bianchi is fully determined and resolute that he would be able to secure his place at Formula One for the forthcoming season. He has recently revealed that he would be taking the role of a test driver for 2011 season.
The French driver is at present racing for the GP2 series with ART Grand Prix, marking 2010 his debut season with the series, yet he is much confident and high-spirited, as he pronounces his future plans for settling as a test driver for Formula One.
Bianchi is being managed by Nicolas Todt, the son of Jean Todt, who is the reigning President of FIA and was the former team boss of Ferrari. Nicolas has also voiced the hopes of young driver for making his way to Formula One next season. The driver is hoping to get a place as a third or reserve driver with one of the teams.
"I am not far away from Formula One. I lack only a few good races and then I can do it," Bianchi expressed his hopes while talking to the motorsport magazine.
He further explained that for him at the moment the most important thing is to get himself in Formula One, “so even a job as a third driver would be great for me."
The 21-year-old French racing driver was born on August 3, in Nice. Being the grandson of Mauro Bianchi, who had won World Championship at GT category thrice, auto racing runs in his blood. But that is not all; Bianchi is also the grandnephew of Lucien, the winner of 24 Hours of Le Mans, who had also taken part in Formula One World Championship from the year 1959 till 1968, driving in nineteen Grand Prixs along with having a podium finish at Monaco.
Having such deep connections with auto racing, his love and attraction for racing was evident from his early age.
Initially he started off his racing career with Karting but left it in 2007 and went for French Formula Renault 2.0, where he made his mark as a champion. His success soon took him to Formula Three Euroseries team ART Grand Prix.
The next year Bianchi bagged the title of Masters of Formula 3 at Zolder and was successful in grabbing third place at 2008 Formula Three Euroseries.
Bianchi continued with the F3 Euroseries the next season as well, and was able to win eight races, thus grabbing the title of the season even before the last race took place at Hockenheim, which was also won by him.
This year took him to GP2 Asia and for the 2010 GP2 Series. He has taken part in three of the four rounds of the GP2 Asia, while he has already secured two pole positions along with a number of points positions so far this year.
During the August of last year BBC reported that Bianchi might get attached to Ferrari, as its driver Felipe Massa was away due to a severe accident, however nothing as such was seen then.
Last month the driver had a very tough race at Spa- Francorchamps with ART Grand Prix; he initially encountered a rough qualifying followed by a poor race day. The thunderstorm and heavy rain fall on the race day invited four safety car periods, and finally the driver left the day pointless for the first time this season.
The race that was his first after the ill-fate injury he met in Hungary has not been what he anticipated on his return to the track. However, this did not leave the driver hopeless, as he is determined to make a place for himself in Formula One as soon as possible.
