ok heres the short version my son was on enfamil lipil has gas, fussyness, rash, and spit up so doc switched him to gentleasse and it did the same, so we switched him to soy milk the doc said he was having milk allergies.. so he got alot better but still spit up ALOT.. so the doc said he thinks he has acid reflex so she put him on acid reflex meds zantac and i knotice a huge difference.. but she also switched him to nutramigen... BUT HE WONT DRINK IT HE HATES IT I GOT HIM TO DRINK 2 BOTTLES OF IT IN 2days AND hes still pretty fussy and farts alot... the doc is closed for a week due to remodeling and im not happy with my son not eatting the bottles should i go back to prosobee and the acid reflex medicine or what?

ALSO A LADY RESPONDED TO ANOTHER ONE OF MY QUESTIONS AND SAID "? You need to have an actual allergy test done. Of course he is fussy! Nutramigen is a milk based lactose formula and Prosobee is SOY based, causen protein lactose free formula." what exactly does that mean...

OH LORD IM A RAMBLER, and i said this was the short version. lol..

THANKS

  2. umm I have 5 kids. And I would suggest putting him on something else if he doesn't like that stuff. All that doctor is doing is changing formulas to make you feel better. All you can do is switch formulas out until you find one that he can handle and likes. Carnation Good Start has a soy based formula, usually cheaper too. Also My other baby who Projectile vomitted formula for 10 months didn't stop until I actually gave her milk. Weird right? but it worked.

Your baby may not have milk allergies he may just be sensitive to the formula because its way harsher an a baby than breastmilk.

Until you get an actual test done to see you won't know if he actuallty allergic to milk. How old is this baby? Also as I said above my baby threw up formula for 10 months I was so afraid she'd be allegic to cow milk, and she wasn't,also the nurses told me 'hey they didn't haven't formula when I had babies, what do you think they drank after breastfeeding" sooooooooooooooooooooooooo its a scary thing but it won't last forever, but seriously if hes not drinking that stuff find one he will.

  3. I had my son on similac alimentum because he threw up EVERY OTHER formula, but not breastmilk.  I know it's not a soy based formula, but it may be worth trying since your baby isn't doing well with the soy based formula either.

  4. you know what docs arent always right go back with what works! i changed formulas on my own because my Dr wasnt listening all she saw was my son's weight was fine nothing else, so i changed formulas and he is much better now. go with what works for your son you are the one who knows him best.

  5. My son was also switched on formulas when he was a newborn. enfamil and gentleese made him very fussy and gave him tummy problems. They put him on lactofree and it actually did wonders taking away the gard tummy and gas, but he was a little bit fussy for about a week and it finally stopped. I would be very concerned about your son only eating that amount of bottles. i would call the clinic and see if you can speak with another doctor and get another opinion. That poor baby must be in some pain to not want to eat. Good luck.

I was told that my son was lactosintolerant if that helps you.

  6. How much more clear do you need it to be?

Prosobee is made with grinded soy beans, soy contains causen. Causen is a PROTEIN found in SOY, cows milk and breast milk.

Nurtamigen is cows milk based. It contains prebroken down whey proteins but NOT broken down causen milk proteins.

You should always research what your feeding your baby to the fullest extent.

  7. I think you should go back to the soy formula and the Zantac until you can get the doctor's advice.

My son had a milk allergy and reflux as well. His doctor switched him to Alimentum, which from my understanding, is about the same thing as nutragamin--hypoallergenic formula. He had no problems taking that, so that might be one thing to consider. Maybe it tastes better?

I'm sure there is a test for milk allergies, but my son's doctor diagnosed him by his symptoms and looking at him.

  8. I've read somewhere that there is over a 50% chance that if your baby doesn't respond well to cow's milk based formula, they could have the same reaction with soy.  Something to do with the break down of proteins... anyways, my daughter was terribly fussy and had painful gas issues.  When she was on reg. Enfamil it was even worse, then I tried the Enfamil Gentlease and it didn't seem to be any better.  Plus it tastes TERRIBLE, I know, weird, but I had to try it after the faces she was making.  I switched to Nestle Good Start with Omega 3 and 6 and she is doing worlds better.  Apparently Good Start only has whey protein and it's broken down in a way that no others are so it can be a lot more gentle on little bellies.  I have to admit, it's not something I would ever get a craving for, but it tastes worlds better than the Enfamil.  I should say that she was on Alimentum in between the reg. Enfamil and the Gentlease which worked very well as too but it's pretty pricey and I'm not able to get it where we moved to.  I should also mention that there's been some controversy surrounding soy formula and that's why I never even bothered to try it with my daughter.  Anyhow, we're doing well with the Nestle Good Start w/Omega 3 and 6!  You could buy a can or two to try or go online to get a free sample, I know it's not recommended to "formula hop" but sometimes, trial and error is the only way to find what works best for your baby.  If yours is anything like mine, you will know pretty fast what is good and what isn't.  Good luck! =)

  9. go back to what was working.. that is the best thing you can do for now... also, all docs have an answering service, so you can get ahold of them.. call the answering service and tell them it is an emergency that your baby isn't eating and you need to talk to them asap. that is what they are there fore.
