Okay... So my question is, my husband starts his actual basic training on friday (He's been in reception up until today, and now they transferred him to the basic training camp, but the day of it starting is actually the 15th) And, recently I heard from someone that they don't get to write a letter for the first 10 days of actual basic, now I'm not sure if this is true, but I would like for someone to let me know so I can be prepared. So if you guys know anything about this, I would really appreciate it. Thank you so much!

  1. Check out this website!

Just click on the numbers next to Fort Leonard Wood and each of them is a survey from woman who have had husbands there. They tell you when they first got a phone call, letter... everything. My husband is at Fort Sill and I thank GOD for that website.

  2. Not true, once they get to their basic training unit, they can write as often as they have a few minutes. You''ll hear from him- maybe not every day, but you will---and soon..

Only God knows where these silly " I heard"   originate..

By the way, those of us who have been there will forever remember our days at "Fort Lost in the Woods." My best to your husband.

  3. Whoever told that should be smacked. You can write and mail letters from the first day and on. the only time he wont be able to write a letter is when he is on FTX (field training exercise).  their are only really two, one lasts 3 days and one lasts 7. and he will be able to call you at least once a week.
