Fort Loudon and Trinniberg – fight for total domination in the King’s Bishop Stakes at Saratoga
It looks like Trinniberg and Fort Loudon might face off with each other for a second time, and this time at Saratoga in the Grade 1 King’s Bishop Stakes on 25th August, 2012, which covers a distance of seven furlongs.
The first encounter between the Bisnath Parboo trained Trinniberg, and Stanley Gold’s charge, Fort Loudon, was interesting to watch.
The two runners battled it out in the Grade 3 Carry Back Stakes at Calder racecourse, where Fort Loudon seized the victory over the race favourite and came out on top.
Rider Fernando Jara mounted the winner and, had to tactfully plan his moves to take down Trinniberg, who was ridden by Willie Martinez, by staying close to him and picking up the pace in the closing stages.
Stanley Gold said of the three-year-old that he is in top notch form after the race as he commented:
“He was lit up the next day and again Monday, like he didn’t even run,” Gold told the media. “He went to the track today and was full of bounce. I’m real happy about that.”
The Amsterdam Stakes at Saratoga is another option, but the trainer is not considering this mainly because the son of Awesome of Course, foaled by mare Lotts A Talc, needs rest before his next start.
The trainer stated that the sophomore will go to King’s Bishop Stakes, since facing Trinniberg for the second time is no longer a threat.
Owner Shivananda Parbhoo was pleased with the way the son of Teuflesberg, out of mare Bella Dorato, performed; stating that another showdown with Fort Loudon would be interesting and, it would prove which one of these is a better runner. He said:
“We got beat by a very nice horse, although I won’t say a better horse until he beats us again. I was very happy with Trinniberg’s effort and it was a very nice setup for his next start, which will definitely be the King’s Bishop.”
The two colts will have a chance to prove who is a better runner and settle this affair once and for all.
