Fortunate to have a player like DeSean Jackson: Philadelphia Eagles’ general manager, Howie Roseman
The prospects of wide receiver, DeSean Jackson, with Philadelphia Eagles are still uncertain and no one can predict with authority if he would be with the franchise in the next season.
In a scenario when all the officials are dodging questions regarding this matter, Eagles’ general manger, Howie Roseman, has said that he is fortunate to have a player like Jackson in his team.
In an interview on Thursday, February 16, 2012, Roseman said that Jackson has a bright future, but he too did not give any clear indication as to what the Eagles are going to do with Jackson, who will be an unrestricted free agent very soon.
Roseman said:
“We feel fortunate to have a player of DeSean Jackson’s magnitude on our football team and I think the future is bright for DeSean Jackson.”
Jackson is playing with Eagles after starting his National Football League (NFL) career in 2008. He was given a four-year contract, which is nearing the end.
The player’s performance was not very well in his last year and he admitted that the expiring contract was a cause of distraction for him.
The Eagles have three possible options in terms of dealing with the wide receiver.
Jackson could get a contract extension, or Eagles could keep him under a franchise tag, which would keep him with Eagles for one year with a lucrative offer. The last option for both would be to part ways.
http://www.senore.com/Philadelphia-Eagles-expected-to-keep-DeSean-Jackson-with-the-franchise-NFL-News-Update-a128975 suggested that Eagles are neither going to give Jackson a contract extension nor they both would part ways.
Instead, Jackson will get a franchise tag.
However, Roseman rubbished all the reports and said that Jackson would come to know about any decision through proper channel and not via media reports.
He also said that there was no need to respond to those reports.
Roseman said:
“I read that report, and I saw putting out every possible option as it came to DeSean Jackson, so I didn't think there was anything for any of us to respond to.”
He added:
“They're not going to have to hear it anywhere else, and if they hear things outside, noise outside of the building, that it's not going to matter unless they hear it from someone coming from the Philadelphia Eagles.”
The Eagles will also enter into negotiations with Jackson’s agent next week. Although no time can be given as to when the final word would come, it is assumed that this issue might make a final headway within a week or two.
