Forward Adam Henrique back in Albany Devils after having a great season with New Jersey in NHL
Adam Henrique, a 22-year-old American international ice hockey professional player, would be feeling much better when he will come back to Albany Devils in the American Hockey League (AHL), after playing one season with New Jersey Devils in the National
Hockey League (NHL).
Since 2010-2011, Henrique’s time has been playing for both Albany Devils and New Jersey Devils, as he has had two spells with both of the teams. Last year he was playing for New Jersey and had a great season, which was a career changing season, but now he
is back in the minor league because of the NHL lockout.
Most of the 2010-2011 season was spent by him at Albany as he played 73 games scored 25 goals, 25 assists for a total of 50 points, before being sent to New Jersey Devils team but he could play only one game.
The next season, he again started with Albany, but he was promoted to NHL after playing just three games and he used it in the best way by making the most of that opportunity.
The Brantford, Ontario native was runner up of Calder Trophy, which is presented to best rookie player, new comer. He scored 16 goals and 35 assists for a total of 51 points to get there.
After playing the pre-season game for Albany, Henrique talked about where he wants to see himself in coming years, as he wants to be someone like Zach Parise, who is one of the best forwards of the game right now. He also mentioned that it is every child’s
dream as there would someone like him after some years, as he said,
"A few years down the road I want to be in the position that Zach Parise is in -- that's how I look at it. Hopefully a few years down the road, some kid will be sitting in my spot and I'll be teaching him things."
The 6-foot-0, 196 pounder forward also wants to help the Albany players by teaching them what he had learnt in world’s best league, as he said,
"I can take what I learned from [New Jersey's veteran players] and try to pass it on to the guys here. You always try to remember those guys that helped you out when you didn't know much”.
