Forward Nick Drazenovic landed two-way unspecified deal by Columbus Blue Jackets-NHL News
Forward, Nick Drazenovic, has extended his stay at the Columbus Blue Jackets for another year following his signing of a fresh contract with the management.
Both parties have agreed to a one-year fresh deal for the player, which will allow him to play next season for Blue Jackets.
None of the stakeholders have disclosed financial and other terms of the deal and it remains unclear if the player has been given a raise in payout.
It is a two-way National Hockey League (NHL) contract meaning the salary of the player will be different/lower in the American Hockey League (AHL) and probably higher in the NHL.
The deal was expected to be in the offing soon after the team was forced out of the NHL regular season.
Blue Jackets finished at the bottom of the Western Conference after winning only 29 games. They lost 46 games out of the total 82 they played this season. Their overtime losses were seven.
Since the ousting, the team management has been analysing the squad strength at certain positions and with the landing of the deal to Drazenovic, they apparently have kicked off the rebuilding process.
They are expected to be among those few outfits of the league that look to be very much interested in exploring opportunity to bring more and fresh talent to side off the free agency, which is going to start from July 01, 2012.
So far, the managers have not hinted at their specific needs at certain positions, leaving the choice about the prospective hiring of new players quite wide open.
The team aims to come out into the 2012-2013 NHL season as an improved outfit, with reaching into the playoffs as the first target on their minds.
