Forward Nick Foligno could be game changer for Columbus Blue Jackets -NHL Update
Columbus Blue Jackets is exploring every single option they have on the table at the moment after losing the face of their organisation and captain, Rick Nash, to the New York Rangers over the offseason and one player that has the management optimistic is
Nick Foligno for sure.
The struggling Eastern Conference club acquired the 24-year-old top level left winger in a trade with Ottawa Senators, who were looking to acquire some defensive depth and accepted to getting 27-year-old defenseman, Marc Methot, in exchange.
"We're excited about Nick," Columbus Blue Jackets’ general manager, Scott Howson, told reporters at the time. "He's a versatile forward coming off a career year. Where he fits will be up to him, but certainly we see him really contributing. He'll increase
our competitive level and he can play virtually every forward position."
At his age, Nick Foligno has 148 points (61 goals, 87 assists) under his belt in 351 games played so far along with 299 minutes in penalty time. For the Senators last season, Foligno put up a career high of 47 points (15 goals, 32 assists) in 82 games played
along with an impressive, 124 penalty minutes.
After the signing, Foligno was also confident that with his abilities, Columbus Blue Jackets will hopefully start climbing the ranks, making him a pioneer in making them a top level team.
"There are going to be some ups and downs, but I'm definitely looking at myself to fill in that offensive role and be a contributor on a nightly basis, and be a solid all-around player," Foligno said. "It's definitely something I pride myself on and want
to be able to do.”
For many, Foligno had a fluke season last time around and is termed not to be able to do that again but Columbus Blue Jackets definitely have high hopes for the player and want him to develop into a leading man for the team.
There is obviously no restrains in hoping high but Nick Foligno obviously has high expectations to me and dreams to live up to, especially those of GM Scott Howson and the fans.
