Forward Simon Gagne’s comeback could make Stanley Cup champions Los Angeles Kings stronger
Simon Gagne, a professional Canadian ice hockey player and a very experienced campaigner, who plays for Los Angeles Kings in the Eastern Conference of the National Hockey League (NHL), might make Stanley Cup champions even stronger.
Gagne suffered an injury last season, could not play and remained out most of the last season, before he returned during the playoffs and played four matches. The only games he returned for, in the playoffs were Stanley Cup finals games, in which he inspired
Kings to victory and becoming champions.
The 32-year-old’s presence in the finals had affected their performance so quickly that now their supporters and their team are hoping that Los Angeles Kings are even better team when Gagne plays for one whole season, which might also be his last season
as he becomes unrestricted free agent at the end of 2012-2013 season. If he does not sign, he surely would be looking to add another Stanley Cup win, playing full part in the win this time.
To get fully fit and prepare for the coming season, the Sainte-Foy, Quebec born player has got whole off season. He is someone who knows how to make comebacks as he has been suffering for many injuries and concussions in past few years.
The 6-foot-1, 193 pounder was very confident and happy after the Stanley Cup win as told that he always knew he would be fully fit and back before time. He was so proud of himself that he made such a great comeback and inspired his team to win, as he said,
"The way things were going, I was confident I was going to be OK, but if you had to wait the whole summer before playing a game, it is a long wait," Gagne said during the Final. "It could have been a long summer to think about it, maybe putting a little
bit of stress on yourself. Not the type of stress you want to have in the summer -- summer is the time to get ready for next season and relax and recover and get ready”.
2002 Winter Olympic Games Gold medal winner and 2004 World Cup winner with Team Canada, Gagne has played in 761 NHL games, scoring 283 goals, 298 assists for total of 581 points.
