Forward Vladimir Tarasenko excited to begin career with St. Louis Blues -NHL Update
Seeing how the St. Louis Blues went from being one of the lowest ranked teams in the National Hockey League (NHL) to the highest in 82-games makes young forward, Vladimir Tarasenko, realize how lucky he is to start off his career with a club that is headed
towards taking home the Stanley Cup championship next season.
The 20-year-old signed on with the club this offseason to a three-year, $2.7 million contract, which is an entry-level deal in nature and will have him making $900,000 a year, with $850,000 in year potential bonuses and an extra $90,000 in signing bonuses.
He was picked up by St. Louis Blues back in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft as the 16th overall back in round-one and left back for Russia to develop himself as an overall player and now seems to have finally achieved that stage with him ready to play
some primetime hockey.
"I am very excited to be here in St. Louis, to be playing for the St. Louis Blues," Tarasenko said through a translator. "I am happy to help the team win the Stanley Cup this year.”
"I have received very good experience in the last two years in the KHL, and I believe this is the right time for me. I am ready to play in the best league in the world," he added.
St. Louis Blues general manager, Doug Armstrong, was also proud to have the player qualified to make an entry into the North American major league with the team that ended second overall in the Western Conference.
"We believe, and Vladi believes, that he's accomplished all the things necessary to become a player in the NHL," Armstrong said. "I know in talking to him over the last couple years, spending time with him and his [North American] agent [Mike Liut].”
It will definitely be exciting to see how the youngster that picked up 38 points (18 goals, 20 assists) in just 39 games with Sibir Novosibirsk in the KHL, will be able to play in a league with far more competition and intensity next season as the St. Louis
Blues aim to finally grab the Stanley Cup.
